Every damned time Jerry Fielding picked up a pen to compose, he "nailed it." Even when he repeated himself or borrowed from himself or others.

Fielding was that good. Never a wrong note in his life.

Jim - I believe that I've never heard a Jerry Fielding score. If he's as good as you say he is...then I might have to seek some out to listen to.

Rick, he is, and you should! The Enforcer and The Gauntlet, to name but two.

And from many examples from other composers, I'm going to pick out Morricone's The Legend of 1900, the orchestral parts of which are just perfect. Add the pianistic contribution of Amedeo Tommasi and it's a wonderful and woefully little-known score. Look for the version with 29 tracks, as it includes a special little scherzo called "Police", which, at less than a minute, is a jewel of a track.

Bullitt is one of the best Jazz/Funk/suspense scores I've heard, its an iconic film/score, one of Schifrin's best.
