-Casino Royale again! Can there be anyone left who doesn't already own this score? I've always been happy with the previous Quartet release. I still don't own this score. Reason for that was I didn't want to pay the $30 plus dollars or I had other things to listen to. I don't know if it is worth the extra release but it always sells out. For all those who do own the previous releases, is it worth the purchase? The 50th anniversary edition is remastered, sound improved, etc ... but to my understanding, comparing to the 45th edition, it is incomplete ... Well, in the 2012 edition (45th Anniversary), they, Quartet released a double Casino Royale: on disc 1 the complete film score (33 tracks, 58 minutes), and on the disc 2 the vinyl version (34 minutes). Now, in the 50th Anniversary, it’s only 1 CD, and 14 tracks have been deleted from the film score: Cock O' The North Agent Mimi Locked In Her Room Little French Boy (Drink A Pint Of Milk A Day) Money Penny's Bedroom Buckingham Club Back To London Arrival In Berlin Escape From The Berlin House Hi There Miss Goodthighs Dream On James, You're Winning My Name Is Bond, James Bond Torture Sequence (Complete) Mata's Kidnapping - Flying Saucer Sister McTarry In other words, the 45 anniversary editon is complete (2 CDs, by the way); the 50th anniversary version (1 CD), remastered, is not complete.

"La Dolce Vita" is a great score and this looks like such a wonderful release. I too always found the CAM LP/CD assembly oddly unfulfilling despite loving the music in the film. An "expanded with alternates" release of this score is something I never thought would happen. Hopefully "8 1/2" is next. While a better album than "La Dolce Vita," there is a lot of great music in the film that isn't on the album (such as the haunting End Credits). *** You ain't just whistling Dixie, (or even Dolce), Dylan. The only thing more exiting to me than knowing I can finally hear previously unreleased Rota material from LA DOLCE VITA is the prospect that maybe we will finally, at long last, have the long longed-for missing pieces of 8 1/2. And yes, that end title has always been the most egregious, inexplicable, unforgivable omission on the RCA LP. And yes, there are many others. A long time ago, Stephen (GODSPELL, WICKED) Schwartz told me how sad he was that the album omitted the one cue he had been most looking forward to: the Rhumba (?) music for the seaside dance of the fallen woman for the children. (In recent years, an obscure 8 1/2 CD lifted that number off the actual film soundtrack and inserted it with its inferior sound onto the disc, not a very happy solution to the problem.) Here's hoping!

The sample for track four of "Snøfall" doesn't play. All the others for that score do.
