I'm hoping Europe will save the day with a pressed CD. Otherwise, it'll be Japan who will do one.

Most of it's up on YT now. Pretty nice stuff. Not going to win folks over that have gotten weary of his sound, but I'm finding it a pretty pleasant Christmassy listen. This is my favorite cue so far. https://youtu.be/BZbOzZ8Cq7I

listening to the second track from the song-CD... with Elfman putting in EVERYTHING: the la-la-la chorus, the oooh-oooh, the little boy solo voice, the quick changes in tone, the prokofiev-like phrases, his 80-90's orchestral trademarks... even a theremin!!! very very busy music, but ultimately BORING for me I agree, Elfman always seems like the nicest guy, and he has always seemed to work really hard, a lot of times his scores are pretty good. But I would put right him right behind Horner as the reuse king, amongst other toolbox stuff he has been recycling that choral la la stuff for many many years, his career high point, between Batman in 1989 and Edward Scissorhands in 1990 was used as a template ever since.

Please, let's do NOT start this discussion yet again, pretty please!! Because I'm tired of it, and it's all on a subjective matter of personal taste. Those indie pics or non-Hollywood films in general (as you call them) are the WORST in Elfman's output. I found things like "Don't Worry He Won't Get Far on Foot" or "The End of the Tour" as completelly unlistenable. Elfman really shines (to use your words) when he's Elfman himself, using the style he's beloved for, with all his la-las, oh-ohs and Prokofiev-manierisms. Otherwise, he's NOT the real Elfman. I'm speaking of a strong personality vs. a loss of it here.

Ha, ha....did we discuss this already? Several times. ...There is nothing of that on his upcoming slate -- only big Hollywood things... Thank God!

I know we discussed big and boisterous music vs. slower, indie, ambient stuff, but I can't recall Elfman was part of it. Could be... Elfman's Justice League discussion comes to mind. Either way, we are no doubt on polar opposites in terms of taste these days (unless we go back to the 90s and earlier, where we seem to have more in common). I know, but I'm happy that we still can have a respectful (and even joysterous) discussion.

Pretty sure Ron Howard already did that. Heck, I’d definitely say this is at least better than Horner’s Grinch. It actually feels like a Christmas score!
