It would be awesome if we found out: Director: "Hey, James -- wanna score my newest film?" Watches a cut of the film. J.N.H.: "I'm busy. I have paint to watch dry."

The disparaging remarks in this thread are so transparent, it's ridiculous. JXL is an absolutely brilliant composer. One of the best currently working. But he just happened to miss the boat on this one. If JXL is an absolutely brilliant composer than what the heck is Jerry Goldsmith? Or John Williams? Hell, even Hans Zimmer? JXL certainly ain't as bad as some here claim and he's actually quite talented. He's just not a very good film composer. Calling him brilliant almost reeks of hipsterism.

Aww man, I thought James Newton Howard was scoring this? Or am I misremembering or getting movies confused? Either way, what a shame. He was mentioned in connection with it at one point, but I don't know if he was ever formally attached. No, I asked James, it was just IMDb nonsense.

I think everyone has his taste and his feeling about every composer, as for me, as for much like Tom, I never put in the same league as Jerry Goldsmith or Hans Zimmer, for example.

Thor, I agree with 99.9% of your opinions, however trstnvnk is right. How can Junk be a brilliant composer even by the standards of today? He may be a talented musician, but in no way is he a good, let alone a brilliant, composer. Oh, he most certainly is. I've been a HUGE fan ever since the "A Little Less Conversation" remix in 2004. One of the best around at the present time. But with the exception of MAD MAX, I prefer him more in drama mode. Both DISTANCE BETWEEN DREAMS and BRIMSTONE are spectacularly good scores. Other favourites are DEADPOOL, 300, BLACK MASS and SPIDERMAN 2. But that he's not very popular at FSM -- probably the most reactionary forum in the history of Mankind -- is no surprise to me.

Not big fan of Mad Max, but a LOT of Distance Between Dreams, Black Mass, Brimstone and 300... and Tomb Raider I have to listen again Deadpool. And I think i'm minority of TASM2, my less care score by Zimmer and co

There's never anything wrong with liking what you like, and overall I sure do like a lot of music you like! I just don't like XL's music. He's obviously super talented, otherwise why would he be paid for so much of his music? I'll leave the great composer silliness for others to decide. I think if a person has fun seeing his or her favorite composers as being equal to the greats then he or she should run with it. Ain't hurting anybody. I guess I could have made this shorter and just wrote: I disagree, but I like Thor and respect his opinions.

No more Remote Control shit composers! Oh be quiet already. You're only happy when Brian Tyler gets a gig because you get a royalty check for supporting him online. oh I didn't think about that..it makes sense: it would be the only possible explanation for his ridiculously gushing, non-stop, tub-thumping support...and completely baseless , too , because if there's such a thing as a (his words not mine) shit composer, it's Tyler... You don't think Iron Man 3 and Dark World are kinda fun scores?

Glad I made your day. The more critical JXL comments I read here on FSM, the stronger my confidence in his scores. If you like it, it's great my friend. Forget everybody else.

Does that mean you're into or even compose hybrid scores, like Zimmer? I like some of that stuff, too (and have written in that style for trailers, etc).
