It stunned me to realize that, aside from a few cues (some adapted) for the straight-to-video "Bambi" sequel, this along with "Last Flight Out" is the most recent Broughton score I will own… and it's fourteen years old!

Well if Seth MacFarlane was telling the truth about Broughton's The Orville pilot score being prepared for release, that won't have to be true too much longer...did you not grab Texas Rising because it was download only?

Regardless, this will be the last one to feature Malcolm Mcnab. As unreal as Jon Lewis is, every CD with McNab is a master class...Even Jon would probably tell you that.

I forgot about "Texas Rising," which I'll admit I haven't gotten to yet, but not because I object to downloads. I think the whole Debney collaboration just threw me off. And before anybody tells me that's ridiculous, let me say: I know it's ridiculous!

I hope that "The Orville" is released (obviously, at least two of our specialty labels would like to do it, though LLL compared their attempts to do so to pulling teeth), though I have to admit that as a fan of almost everything Broughton, his mock-stirring main theme, with all its purposeful nods to the genre, doesn't do much for me.

Dang...I guess you also don't care for David Newman's Galaxy Quest then. Personally I enjoy them both very much.

Actually, I don't, and I'm a big David Newman fan!

(While we're at it, I'm a big John Morris fan… but not "Spaceballs.")

You know me too well, Yavar.

Not to derail this thread anymore but I find Newman hot or cold. I find his work either a huge hit or a huge miss.

I never find him a *huge* miss...but half the time he is a "meh" for me I guess...but oftentimes I love him (Operation Dumbo Drop, The Phantom, Hoffa, and yes, Galaxy Quest...)

You mentioned the ones I really like.

Was really hoping for Nicholas Pikes' The Prince and the Pauper. That coronation suite is one of my all time favorites.

I don't know much about Disney in the last 25 years, I've never heard of this, but I am willing to give it a go, Broughton's work has been interesting/nice listening over the years.

It looks a great release Intrada well-done, thanks, I might be tempted by this one soon as I bought the previous Newman which I'm still happy with.

I can't thank Intrada enough for releasing these obscure animated scores from the Disney vaults.

Been loving this one! I thought my Broughton thirst was quenched, but unsurprising that Intrada should prove me wrong.

Not sure what else is left though. I assume "A Simple Wish" isn't a Steiner-level magnum opus?

Broughton talks about his love of scoring animated films and theme park music in the notes. Come on, Intrada, give us the theme park music!

A high quality score as usual from Mr Broughton, although for me he falls into the category of ”composers I should probably like more”. See also Kamen and Poledouris. Interestingly, since listening to a couple of samples I’ve been whistling Force 10 From Navarone.

I like the music of Broughton mostly very much.
But this score is really disappointing.

It is what it is: just cartoon music for a Mickey Mouse film.

This year`s Intrada-releases aren`t very exiting `till yet.

Man, I haven't heard this much riffing on the classics since Georges Delerue won an Oscar!

I disagree... Intrada earned their keep for the year with Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Living in the Age Airplanes. And we haven't even hit the halfway mark of the year.

The main theme fanfare refrain. It's Max Steiner isn't it? Don Juan?

Goodwin's Force 10 from Navarone, but it's still quite charming.
