Sooo... should I get this since I never got the chance to get Tempo's "10th Victim"? Very expensive now. A feeling of dissapointment from the responses.

There are used copies of La Decima Vittima on Discogs.

It is significantly shorter than the Easy Tempo version, but probably contains most of the memorable cues. The fact that it is taken from Mainstream master tapes means that it is one or two generations removed from the masters; and Mainstream likely would have made their own fake stereo version (which supplied the master for this release), adding yet another generation.

The Tenth Victim is one of my very favorite scores. I supposed if you like and want both of these scores, it is worth it, but I am really disappointed that Intrada didn't give us something better with the Tenth Victim.

What he said.

All I'll add is that you should listen carefully to the clips. I, too, love 10TH VICTIM, but Piccioni in this mode is not everyone's cup of tea. The Garvarentz is what it is; whether or not it's added value for you only you can decide.

In case anyone missed it from the other thread, the complete Easy Tempo version of The Tenth Victim on CD is available as part of this deluxe package with the DVD. If you don't have this film, treat yourself. It is IMO one of the greatest films and greatest scores of the 1960s.

Well I was completely wrong in my guess. I was hoping for THE SILENCERS and MURDERERS' ROW. I will have to sample some of these tracks to see if I'm interested.

When has a boutique label ever released a straight-up LP version of a score after an expanded version has been widely available? The Easy Tempo version of The Tenth Victim was twice as long.

When, Onya?

In 2014, La-La Land issued a 2-CD edition on The Blue Max which contains a 'straight' re-issue of the Mainstream LP after previous incarnations of expanded discs on The Blue Max (such as the Intrada version from 2010 as well as the Sony CD from 1995).

I, for one, am glad that a number of Mainstream LP programs have been surfacing onto legitimate CD albums [The Heroes of Telemark, Harper plus most of Mainstream's Jerry Goldsmith titles].

Hoping that Maurice Jarre's The Collector is in the pipeline.

I'm pretty sure that Intrada has released *all* of Jerry Goldsmith's Mainstream albums at this point...though they issued A Patch of Blue over two decades ago and it's long out of print, so maybe that's one they'll consider issuing again.

For anyone wondering what else Intrada might tackle soon from the Mainstream vaults:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mainstream_Records

A new release of The Collector by Maurice Jarre from original tapes would indeed be very cool, as would Barry's King Rat or Rota's Juliet of the Spirits. There are also works by other obscure but still talented film composers like Ruby Raksin (David Raksin's brother), Elliott Kaplan (no relation to Sol Kaplan as far as I know), and more...

Yeah ... that's The Square Root of Zero by E. Kaplan.
Had this LP for years. smile

You like it then, I assume? I'm not very familiar with the composer.

It's a fun oddity, but a little too cartoonish to be a fave.
Love that some LPs from the 1960s released some independent & foreign material!

https://www.amazon.de/10-Opfer-Limited-incl-Soundtrack-DVDs/dp/B007FPPI7I/

Is the German version of the 10th Victim DVD the only one that includes the CD soundtrack?

Too bad English subtitles are not included in this German version.

Have noticed other releases in UK's Amazon one includes 2 discs from Shameless. One disc is the DVD and the other disc the Blu-Ray. English subtitles are included here in this release.

If one scrolls down to format it states CD+DVD...

???

Does anyone have this Shameless release? Is there a CD included?

In this case, we're simply getting a short version of a score that is a few generations removed from the masters. It makes no sense.

"While working with the master tapes for this CD release, Intrada discovered a second, more energetic closing version of the vocal number that had been assembled for but never included on the original 1965 release. It appears as the closing track on this CD. Interestingly, while both albums proudly sported the “stereo” nomenclature on their covers, in fact neither soundtrack was presented in that mode. As was customary with numerous soundtrack albums originating from Europe during that era, the music was made available in mono only, and stereo reverb and other audio “enhancing” techniques were utilized during mastering of the American albums. The results by today’s standards are quite thin. Upon auditioning both modes, we opted to retain the pseudo-stereo versions over their mono counterparts as those not only exhibited the same thin audio as well but are generally considered of lesser interest to collector’s of the original albums, Piccioni’s score in particular."

Maybe this is senseless under the music appreciation category, but I think a lot of former LP collectors wish for the straight reissues of LP programs when they eventually arrive onto CD.

Also, this might the first time that the Intrada label has released music by Piccioni.
The only other American boutique label (as you term them) that issued Piccioni music was FSM [More Than a Miracle + Kenner]

Another also - the artwork on Mainstream's version has been replicated.
I don't think any of the other prior CDs on The 10th Victim utilized this particular illustration of Ursula Andress in bikini. smile

Despite all my chat above regarding this Piccioni title, the real reason for me to purchase this CD is to get Garvarentz's That Man in Istanbul on digital media. I consider Garvarentz very underrepresented on CD.

Indeed, some his best scores are still totally unreleased on CD, such as Triple Cross, Caroline chérie, The Southern Star, Sapho ou la fureur d'aimer, Un beau monstre and Les galets d'étretat. I have good LP rips so I can't really complain, but why such good soundtracks are not on CD is difficult to understand for me!

THAT MAN IN ISTANBUL was one of my earliest LP purchases (in mono), nice to finally get in legitimately on CD in stereo.

I saw this many years ago on TV and the moment when Horst Buchholz breaks the 4th wall and says to the audience, "What. Me worry?" is stuck in my brain after all this time. smile

So happy to have Garvarrentz' Diamond Mercenaries/Corrupt Ones CD from a few years ago.
