I'm not having any luck finding this on CD.

Has it gone OOP already?

Any pointers welcome (especially if they're UK-based!)

The CD seems to have vanished off the face of the planet. Erased... from existence!

In December I decided to wait until January when I would buy it together with some other CDs. In three weeks it went out of stock (out of print?) everywhere. Nonsense. It seems that nowadays CDs by bigger labels (Sony, WaterTower, etc.) last shorter than the limited edition CDs by the speciality labels. I asked WaterTower about it but they never replied.

I just looked on SAE for it and got this message...

AQUAMAN (PRE-ORDER) (CD)
Composed by: Rupert Gregson-Williams
PLEASE NOTE: This item has a planned release for Early February and is only available for PRE-ORDER at this time.

I saw that too but its has gone completely from all the other retailers, like for instance amazon. SAE still has it at pre-order but the planned release date keeps moving forward, so I'm not sure what the fate of this CD will be. I guess it just needs to be re-pressed.

Oh. I wasn't aware it had been released as a CD yet.....I thought it was only in downloadable form.

I don't always stay on top of these things.....

It seems some labels don't want us to buy CDs. Sad.

This does seem pretty crazy: Aquaman's a billion-dollar grossing movie! Surely there's considerable demand out there for a CD release of the score?!

Glad I pre-ordered and received the CD from Amazon. I ordered it before the movie came out or the week it came out, I don't remember. But I have it, and glad I got it...fantastic score!

I used to procrastinate purchasing general release scores believing they'll be around for years, but it seems many disappear faster than specialty release scores nowadays. Lesson learned! It really is insanity if this is OOP already.

At least this proves it exists!

Didn't the same thing happen with Ready Player One? IIRC the cds for that album disappeared almost instantly, and eventually became available again. My guess is it sold better than WaterTower anticipated, and they are in the process of making more. I am sure it will be available again soon.

I can also confirm it exists, as it is sitting on my desk, albeit with a much different cover than what Amazon has for its listing.

If it's truly not available, I would suggest that means that there is not.

Not suggesting the score is in high demand, but we do know LLL and perhaps other special labels are experiencing long delays and set backs in printing CD's (and the artwork) as production moves to Mexico and other countries.

Or it could be studios are cutting the cord on physical releases altogether and this was in the mists of release and became a causality after the fact.

It's all speculation at this point!

True. It could be that there was very little demand, or that there was more demand than expected!

Since it is gone everywhere and people (like me, for instance) are still looking for it, I guess the demand is given. Now they just should do something about it.

What has a movie's success EVER meant an all-score soundtrack album would sell? Even Titanic's sales were bolstered by That Song. There are 3,000-copy pressings of FSM albums from fifteen years ago that haven't sold out. You can go back to the biggest blockbusters of the 80s, and the only ones where the soundtrack album became a chart-busting hit were song-driven ones with maybe a token score cut thrown in.

And most of those ended up in the used CD bins once the purchaser realized there was only one good song on the entire album.
