I've been fairly lucky, since I'm not so quick to jump on things and haven't always had the cash to. I have the "Jaws" MCA re-recording, the Decca "complete" score, and when I eventually get the Intrada release, that'll be the one I have the most of.

Gotta be THE BLUE MAX --> Varese --> Legacy --> Intrada --> LaLaLand --> Tadlow WOW! I really do love this score.

Gotta be THE BLUE MAX --> Varese --> Legacy --> Intrada --> LaLaLand --> Tadlow WOW! I really do love this score. I'm completely cuckoo over it. I just remembered, I have the OST, Varese Anniversary, and LLL of the Robe.

I don't count different recordings of the same score (or it's likely something by Beethoven, there is no film score I have as often as even complete symphony cycles), but I bought both STAR WARS, SUPERMAN and STAR TREK - THE MOTION PICTURE) four times each. (SW: LP, Polydor CD, Trilogy Set, BMG / SUPES: LP, Warner CD, Rhino CD, FSM / ST: LP, Columbia CD, Sony, LLL). I also have the Varèse of Superman, but that's a different recording, so I see this separately. I got more "threesomes", like LEGEND, CHINATOWN, POLTERGEIST 1&2, FIRST BLOOD 1&2, ALIEN... some more... These were all fine, but I'm cutting down on it. Edit October 29th, 2020: SUPERMAN is probably the film score I have most often in my collection: I have: The original Double LP The Warner Bros. Soundtrack CD (US Edition) The Rhino Release The FSM Blue Box The LaLaLand 40th Anniversary Edtion I also have the 2CD recording by John Debney on Varèse Sarabande, but I view that as a different recording.

Oh, right, I also got four CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (Arista LP, Arista CD, Arista Expanded, LLL) and E.T. (LP, CD, Expanded CD, LLL). Sheesh... but four seems to be the max.

With the new LLL release Superman will take the podium from Poltergeist II Besides the LPs: Superman (6) First release, Japanese, McNeely (re-recording), Rhino, Blue Box, LLL Poltergeist II (5) Intrada, Intrada, VS, Kritzerland, Intrada ET (4) MCA, 15th, 20th SACD, LLL Conan (4) VS, MCA, Tadlow (re-recording), Intrada Star Wars: 2cds (twice), Arista, Complete, Disney... (Certainly will buy again a “definitive edition”)

Counting re-recordings, it would be SUPERMAN at 3 (original CD, Varese re-record, Blue Box), which is odd because I never listen to any version of it, and OBSESSION (original Welles Raises Kane CD, Tadlow re-record and Quartet set). If you're counting formats other than CD then I also had the 2-LP set of SUPERMAN, making it 4. But with LP and cassette issues quite a few titles score 4: THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS (original LP, cassette, CD and Ryko expansion - indeed I had all the expanded Bonds in their LP, cassette and original CD incarnations), POLTERGEIST 2 (cassette, intrada 30-min, Varese 30-min, Varese DeLuxe), EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (2-LP set, cassette, first 2-CD set, Gerhardt re-record), THE FURY (original LP, Varese cassette, Varese CD, Varese Club 2CD set), THE FLY (TER cassette, Varese CD, Volcano CD pairing with THE FLY 2, Varese Horror Box). There are probably others. Loads more scoring 3, mostly cassettes, original CD and expansion. I generally don't rebuy the same titles these days unless it's massively expanded and/or there's something badly wrong with the earlier edition.

SUPERMAN: 2-LP set, Warner CD, Debney-RSNO, Rhino, Blue Box, and now I'm getting ready to buy the LLL. TITANIC: the OST, BACK TO TITANIC, the LLL set, and partial re-recordings from Varese, Silva, and BSX. I doubled up on every classic-cast STAR TREK title to get the Renaissance releases. LOST IN SPACE (GNP and LLL and LLL). And some vintage James Bond scores for the expansions.

Like there was ever any doubt! Well that didn't take long. And I'm not that predictable. There was plenty of doubt.

The discussion over the new La-La Land Superman got me to thinking about what scores I've bought/upgraded the most times on CDs. There are way too many scores that I've bought 2 or 3 times, so here are the one's I've identified as have bought/upgraded 4 times: E.T. - Original (DDD!), Remastered 1996, 20th Ann., La-La Land Superman - Original, Rhino, Blue Box, La-La Land (make it 5 if you count the Debney re-recording) A couple that came close and/or will probably have another edition: Close Encounters - Arista, Expanded, La-La Land (I'm missing the Varese) Poltergeist 2 - Original Intrada, Varese, Kritzerland (I'm missing the first Intrada Limited and the last Intrada) The Omen - Original, Expanded, Deluxe (I'm sure there'll be a 45th or 50th Anniversary and of course a Definitive!) Star Trek:TMP - Original, Collectors, La-La Land (The LLL is fairly definitive, but the score sells so there'll probably be more) And the #1 most bough/upgraded scores are the Original Star Wars Trilogy For all three I have the Original (in both the Polydor and RSO labels), the 20th Century Fox Box set, the 2-CD RCA booklet expansions, and the 2004 re-masters (in the box set). Empire, though, is my favorite, so in addition to the 5 mentioned, I also have the 2018 remaster (my Holy Grail of the original LP version) plus the Charles Gerhardt re-recording. And if they ever let La-La Land and Mike Matessino at them, I'll be buying those also. Wow - I reckon my list would be almost identical......

For me, The Blue Max and The BIG Country, tied in first place. TM7 too, if you include the Sedares and EB re-records. And also, Sweet Smell of Success. The Man With the Golden Arm. How the West Was Won.
