Owned, loved and played often. No excuse not to own it.

Bought it without ever having seen any of the titles. Just love that kind of tv music - economical but inventive.

Assignment: Vienna by Grusin on this collection is terrific!

I play it more than any other Grusin. Thanks again for releasing such an awesome, if obscure, gem. FSM is sorely missed.

I remember this. There looked like some good stuff in the box, but I suspect it would have been one of those cases where you pays for a shed load of music but listen to much of it only once. I only wanted the Goldenberg! It would have been an extravagant purchase. (Come on, let's have a Goldenberg box)...

I bought it the second it was announced. I replay it often, especially the scores by Williams, Rosenman, Ellis, Schifrin and Goldenberg.

Coincidentally, I just took the cellophane off this one this week. Listened to three discs so far. Love the Grusin, and also enjoy Fielding's music for SHIRTS AND SKINS, a good movie with Doug McClure and Bill Bixby I would very much like to see again.

As for Rosenman, well, I put that disc on without looking fully at the contents, and once I heard 'bomp bomp bomp bomp,' it was not hard to guess the identity of the composer - though it certainly could have been ANY one of his scores, at least outside CROSS CREEK or MAKING LOVE.

Lol, that's Lenny R on the one day when he decided to mix it up a bit!

Seriously, I like a lot of his music, the early James Dean scores, Bakshi's LOTR, but that suspense trope gets really, really old sometimes!

It's probably the reason I don't own much of his music on CD...no matter the decade, that choppy, arrhythmic horn motif just keeps popping up, over and over. It was like his "Danger Motif".

My favorites are Goldenberg's High Risk, the "Johnny" Williams music from The Eleventh Hour and Duning's pilot score for Then Came Bronson. I also later picked up the Intrada album of Bronson and love it, especially the Duning stuff. High Risk really whetted my appetite for a multi-disc set of Goldenberg's great TV work, but sadly this has never come to pass. Not sure how much of it still exists, but I love the great TV music from the 60s and 70s in particular and would happily fork over a goodly sum for a Vol. 2., or something like a Columbo or more general NBC Mystery Movie set. One can dream... But all thanks to Lukas for a job well done on this one and the entire FSM catalog.

Hear Hear, to everything Dana (and Lukas) said! I bought the box set straight away, always loved the Then Came Bronson TV series and music, so happy to see it getting such a wonderful release! Great days, great music, long may it continue!

Just received a pristine used copy on Amazon, and I am really pleased with the set.
Agreed-the Dave Grusin Cd may be the best, but it's all good if you are a fan of the era.
$60 for five full CDs is a pretty good deal.
I recommend snapping it up before it becomes rare and out of print.

I too wish that there was a Volume 2 in the works, but I don't think it's likely...

Yeah I bet, great decision owning Omnibus with all its grand treasures, just curious do you own the Schifrin box-set 64-68, that's a fab set too if you don't.. I snagged both when they were released was a bit disappointed not getting a 2nd volume too either - tv work for me out weighs cinema hands down, these 2 releases are my top ten of all FSM releases.

I bought this and hadn't seen many of the films and since then I have seen as many I could find. I loved the Phantom Of Hollywood the David Shire score, plus it was filmed on the old MGM back lot before they tore it down. Wish there were more volumes of this.

I just bought it and am really enjoying it.

Since this was released years ago, I'm guessing sales weren't good enough for a Volume 2, etc.?

Pity.

I own this spectacular set. I feel that it is necessary for your collection if you love the composers and love music for television shows of the era.
