This is a great for people who missed the FSM CD.

I am one of them. Missing out on the FSM release (for reasons I can't even remember) was one of the big regrets of my collecting life. This was my favorite show - my favorite THING, really - for the several years of my life. THIS WILL BE MINE.

How did you miss this??? It’s coming out on vinyl for RSD, too.

I honestly don’t remember. I think it was a budget issue at the time and then it was gone.

I was out for RSD today and it was funny a guy next to me came across the Knight Rider vinyl and looked at me and said... what do they do play the theme over and over

I laughed but said actually the CD limited edition is on sale online and that years ago the FSM CD became one of the highest priced score CDs on the used market.

And also told him I ordered my copy earlier that day!

It's not a matter of who the release has, but rather that Stevens' score is too short for a release of it's own, Don Peake has too many episode scores to be released (and what has not only needs a good mastering, but cues are missing), Stu has had most of his stuff release so it makes sense to pair it with his work on the same show, and it's unlikely to sell by itself on a separate non KR release (which would mean, if it happened, it would need to be another score from the same studio because of rights issues).

FYI, this 2 CD set was produced by STU PHILLIPS who had to pull a lot of strings to get his scores released, so I think that he's not that interested in including another composer's score on his album.

The fact he and VARESE were able to pull this release off was nothing short of a miracle.

Perhaps someday something will come along that will along the. release of the Morton Stevens score, but I wouldn't hold my breath at this time.

I can't wait to hear this new 2 CD Set.

That guy might have a point, even though the materials are pretty good listening on the FSM I only find the main themes memorable best thing about it for me it is cool music though, I weren't into Knight Rider preferring the Ateam as more entertaining viewing.

Expect jokes that, if/when a Columbo album comes out, it's nothing but "This Old Man" and variations thereof.

The theme is great, but I also enjoy "Through A Truck"/Airport Chase" and the music from the "K.A.R.R."-episode very much. Great action stuff, it rocks. That's why I skip the Varèse-Edition, I'm highly pleased with the FSM-CD.
Besides I don't like the cover. Looks like a cheap airbrush-painting and "K.I.T.T." has a complete steering wheel. smile

My copy arrived today - woohoo! In flipping through the notes, the only item missing is a listing of which episodes the tracks are from. Of course with disc 1 I can search for that here on FSM's site, but for disc 2, I'm hoping someone can post which episode each track is from.

What a very strange omission :-(

litefoot did name some episodes a few posts above: "Disc 2 has music from episodes Good Day At White Rock, Just My Bill, No Big Thing, and Slammin' Sammy's Stunt Show Spectacular."

Who knows, maybe Stu will chime in, since he posts here every once-in-a-while.

Well, they do list the episodes from which music is from on disc 2, which are those four episodes above, but I wanted to know the details of, say, tracks 1-12 is from "White Rock", tracks 13-20 is from "Just My Bill", etc etc.

It seems bonkers not to have laid that out on the package - especially since the FSM disc did. It is Varese I suppose...

Hopefully they are at least in the liner notes!

Of course, this type of idiocy is pretty common in these days of digital downloads/streaming. There are times where I can't even find out who /composed the music/ on certain discs.

The liner notes mainly focus on the main theme, with some talk about the scoring of the show and when Phillips moved on and Don Peak took over.

So they don't actually give a break down of the music per episode? That's pretty bad, especially when you consider how well FSM documented it.

Once again it seems we have to hang on to the FSM disc for the notes. Oh well, it's only valuable space!

OK, I think I figured out after some closer listenings that the tracks for Good Day at White Rock are tracks 1-17, Just My Bill seems to be 18-31, No Big Thing is 32-40 and Slammin' Sammy's Stunt Show Spectacular are the remaining tracks 41-53. I was basing this on the cues which fit the mold of upbeat episode wrap-ups, such as the cues "Kisses" and "Courthouse/Un-Valet Park".

Has everyone who ordered it received it? Mine is still "Unfulfilled"

Same here. My last order was 'fulfilled' only after I received it. Go figure.
