As usual, Amazon has crossed the streams by porting over the reviews for the original song album to this score release. They're listing a used song cassette as well... makes me worry.
Can I trust this listing? I'm a little hesitant to pre-order it from Canada to the US, but I really don't want to miss out again. I doubt the return process will be very straightforward (or easy) if it turns out to be the wrong thing.

Furthermore, is it a CD-R?
It's safe to assume this won't be a limited edition (in the traditional sense), therefore it's best to see how this releases and what the initial reviews have to say. But that cover tho...
My hope is that Ghostbusters II is also forthcoming.
The LLL guys said (5 years back) that they had a master for both ready...but SONY wanted to do it themselves.
Varese has 7 minutes of bonus tracks which are the unused album arrangements for the original soundtrack and that wierd "Magic" track that has nothing to do with anything.
"Magic" was a cue, presumably re-recorded with that other "Ghostbusters" cue from the old song CD, from a score to a stage production by the same name. The story of how that happened should be interesting, should somebody uncover it.
Happy what I have already, but very nice release for fans who need this, its not exactly Varese or duration but who cares its a great price for the value of Elmer's unique score.

Good point! I would be disappointed, but I suppose it's better than nothing. (We'll just need to make backups.)

I'M pretty sure Sony don't make CDR - I know Amazon sell them for other labels GNP, Water Tower, Naxos, WB, Marco Polo etc.. I'd be surprised what your getting is CDR.
I have the Varese CD, and was fortunate to get it signed by two surviving GB cast members and Ivan Reitman. I’ll be picking this up as well and doing a comparison.

Sony (Classical) makes a lot of CDRs for the US market while the corresponding European releases are generally pressed CDs.
As I recall, MV reported that they had inquired with composer Randy Edelman about GB II, but he was the one who wanted to keep all the music in house at Sony/Madison Gate Records. Meaning that it was off limits for them.
I had hoped that because LLL had released Cobra Kai with Madison Gate that there was still a chance they might be doing GB II, but that was just wishful thinking on my part.
I am sure that the same CD here will be released on Amazon.com any day now - it's just weird that it's up on Canada's site first. I'm not complaining!
