Does Harold Faltermeyer get along with him? Chase signed last year's new FLETCH CD for Harold, so I guess the answer is yes.

$5000 payable to Disney Music Publishing, artist approval required, and it had nothing to do with the composer of the score, who was involved in the release and very pleased with the result. Would the $5000 have been within La La Land's budget for this release? Would Chevy Chase have approved the inclusion of his song? Is he an easy guy to work with? Does Harold Faltermeyer get along with him? I like "Song of the South" a lot better than the Buckwheat Zydeco song. If both songs couldn't be included (due to budgetary reasons?) and given the choice between only including one of the two songs, I would have gone for the former. If it was a budgetary issue, I would have gladly paid a few dollars more if necessary to cover the additional licensing costs especially since the score is not that long to begin with. On the one hand, the entire discussion is irrelevant since everyone involved determined it did not make business sense and thus made a business decision not to include it. The release is out, enjoy it for what it is and what went into making it. Or, don't buy it. On the other hand, if only they'd known THEN that you would've gladly paid a few dollars more to cover additional licensing costs! Oh what might have been if they'd had that information when deciding whether to shell out thousands of dollars up front and delayed production time with no guarantee of return!

The discussion is not irrelevant. If the CD sells out, they may decide to reissue it with the missing music in the future, as they've done with other releases. I wouldn't even mind a recall and a reissue with the missing song. We don't know whether or not it would have made business sense for them to have included it or not since the principals involved have not yet responded to my follow up post. I'm not a La La Land insider and don't have access to their business model information with a detailed breakdown of their projected costs and revenues. They must have paid licensing costs for the Buckwheat Zydeco song. I'm just saying that I would have preferred them to have paid the costs for the Chevy Chase song rather than the Buckwheat Zydeco one. The Chevy Chase song has far more commercial appeal and is far better known among the general public than the Buckwheat Zydeco one. After 30 years of waiting, what's a few more months for a complete release? I therefore urge everyone on here to write to La La Land to urge them to add the song to future batches of this release when they have more money and can afford it. I’m sure you can buy that song somewhere. I've never seen the Chevy Chase version of the song available on any other CD or as a CD single.

Gave this a listen this morning. I've never seen the film, but was certain I'd enjoy the score since I tend to enjoy Faltermeyer's 80's output very much. CD didn't disappoint. Felt like a good expansion of his Fletch material. I was surprised to find the "TV source" track was one of my favorite tracks. Source music almost always gets kicked off my playlists, but this track is terrific. Thanks for rescuing this gem, LLL!
