As expected, this film didn't do as much for me as it did for my colleagues. Guess I'm not just 'suited' to Aster's sensibilities. At the same time, I can recognize its (and his) qualities in the mise-en-scene.

This film was a vile, senseless, vulgar mess and the music did nothing to elevate it.

I saw the film last night. I was rather disappointed. In contrast to Hereditary, this one was poorly written and extremely messy and goofy. And gory moments felt totally unjustified and gratuitous.

But the score is actually the only great thing in it, if you ask me. I'm listening to it on Spotify as I type.

So far, my second best film and my favorite score of 2019.

I can guess for some people that the deliberate Lynchian pace, the "do-I-laugh-at-this-or-do-I-feel-weirded-out-or-do-I-feel-both-at-once" mating ritual scene, some of the strange hallucinatory effects, etc. will decidedly not be their cup of (psychedelic) tea, but I dug it.

The score album is only 40 minutes long, so I'm eager to find out how much is Krlic's music. The entire score is fantastic; I particularly like the trio of woodwinds that greet the guests when they arrive at the village and, toward the end, the haunting music used for the placement in the temple of...well, if you've seen the movie you know what I mean. In his review, Jonathan Broxton suggests those who like Jonny Greenwood's film scores will like this one. Count me in.

For those who like to lose themselves inside of long, atmospheric films, Midsommar is perfect.

By the way, the kid from the 1971 Death in Venice (he's in his early 60s now) is in Midsommar playing a villager named Dan. Does anyone remember which specific character that is? Yeah, I know: "Watch it again yourself, Mark."

Havent watched the movie or listened to the score (maybe I will this weekend), but I loved the music in the trailer!
Is this from the movie composer? Or just regular trailer music?

Just watched this last night and really liked the score but also really enjoyed the creepy, catchy chants and source music played throughout the time at the commune.

I found that most of this has been completely left off the CD soundtrack. What are the chances of a complete soundtrack with this stuff included being released?

I finally saw it and thought it was great.

Jonny Greenwood named this score his favourite film score of the decade.
