SEASON 6:
We now temporarily interrupt our regular composer line up with an sudden change. All episode scores this season are by snow unless otherwise noted. "Aftershocks" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6w5qkw Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 7:46 in. 11:22 in. 44:27 in. 47:30 in. Cheap, synthy, a far cry from the orchestral work he was doing on "Hart to Hart". Budget cuts can go fuck themselves. Even the newly re-recorded theme music sounds smaller and has less impact (I guess Snow did that with a limited budget). "Living Nightmare" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wb05j Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 4:49 in. 26:34 in. Episode is incomplete. "The Stranger Within" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wb05i Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 39:26 in. The source music (finally something with no synths). "Fatal Attraction" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wf2g5 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 2:28/12:03 in. The music is telling me I am watching "Miami Vice" when I am not; to me, this is a failure in scoring this show. Also, a little taste of "Jake Speed" thrown in. 40:21 in. 42:52 in. 48:19 in. "Perilous Charm" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wf2g7 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 2:25 in. 38:18 in. 46:38 in. Joining a cue already in progress. "Flash Point" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wf2g6 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 2:27 in. 49:12 in. "Double Jeopardy" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wjb1d Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 11:07 in. 29:50 in. 34:10 in. 35:19 in.* * = I want to go on a long CinemaSins rant about this whole chase. "Nepotism" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wjb1e Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 7:12 in. 12:31 in. Perhaps what that upbeat "MillenniuM" scoring would have sounded like had it taken place in the 1980's. 47:15 in. "Slow Seduction" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wjb1f Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 2:33 in. 11:05 in. "Maggie" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wltd3 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 2:26 in. 24:46 in. 38:57 in.

Continuing SEASON 6:
"Hot Spots" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wltd1 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 2:25 in. 28:28 in. 30:08 in. 47:08 in. "False Front" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wltd2 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 28:18 in. Angry fast driving has crossed over from "Dynasty" into this show. 42:57 in. "Missed Connections" By: Roger Bellon https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wndm2 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. This is Bellon's final effort for the series. Highlights: 18:22 in. 27:50 in. And so the slashed scoring budget claims another victim. If I were compiling a set of season six scoring, I honestly can't say I'd include any of these on it. Bellon's work on the series was at the start of his scoring career; before the series, all that is on his IMDb page (thus far) is two TV movies. "Dark Passion" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wndm0 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 2:27 in. 11:55 in. Again, the music is telling me I'm watching "Miami Vice". 13:51 in. 37:46 in. 45:10 in. 48:10 in. End of the cue is nearly identical to part of a cue from "Jake Speed". "When the Bough Breaks" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6wndm1 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 2:25 in. 9:37 in. 31:19 in. 48:12 in. "The Cradle Will Fall" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wlig Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 13:09 in. 35:44 in. From this point on there are not more episodes on this channel, so I'll have to go with a channel that slightly off sound. "Topspin" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wljs Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 42:00 in. If I were compiling a set of season six scoring, I'd probably skip this episode score. "A Piece of Work" By: Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wlk7 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 0:00 in. 2:14 in. 9:55 in. 23:41 in. 28:28 in. 41:41 in. The scene is just so wrongly scored. NO LOAD FOUND. "Dance of Deception" By: Mark Snow "Hat Trick" By: Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wllr Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 17:11 in. 21:44 in. 31:32 in. 41:13 in. Robert Stack and Jonathan Banks in one episode. "Battle Lines" By: Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wlm5 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 2:20 in. 14:00 in. 20:52 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 24:24 in. 42:02 in. 43:16 in. "Nowhere to Run" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wlqz Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 2:20 in. "Miami Vice"-esque. 14:50 in. Proto X-Files (about fifteen seconds in). 22:07 in. About 40:30/41:23 in. 44:24 in. "Cold Hands" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wlrm Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads found. Highlights: 3:49 in. 35:47 in. 40:00 in. 44:35 in. 45:42 in. The music is still telling me I'm watching "Miami Vice".

Finishing SEASON 6:
"Body and Soul " By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wlsb Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads. Highlights: 0:00 in. 25:47 in. More of that upbeat sound that might have been what "MillenniuM" would have sounded like had it been scored in the 1980's. 28:34 in. 30:51 in. About 37:50 in. "Loose Cannons" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wlt9 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads. Highlights: 20:22 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 24:00/27:41 in. "The Great Karlotti" By: Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wlul Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads. Highlights: 2:24 in. 8:53 in. "Chain Reaction" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x264377 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season six loads. Highlights: 2:10 in. 12:24 in. Highlights: 2:20 in. 13:32 in. About 34:40 in. 38:10 in. The internet went down for three hours today, so there wont' be as many today. Will do what I can until I am off for the day.

"New Faces" By: Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wmar Warner Bros. purchase link: No season seven loads found. Highlights: 2:20 in. Three episode short of what I would have liked to do. I really want to finish this series so I can move on to the other big one (aside from "Dynasty", which I've done).

Joining a cue already in progress. * = Dear sweet fluff lord, what happened to this show? It's now gone from ninjas to fake poltergeists. And holograms! Angela: "My dear you haven't seen me wave my magic wand." "Rescue Me" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wmm7 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season seven loads found. Highlights: 1:20 in. 19:40 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 21:03 in. 24:25 in. AGE RESTRICTED VIDEO. I am not creating a Dailymotion account just to skim it to hear score. "The Uncertainty Principle" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wmoi Warner Bros. purchase link: No season seven loads found. Highlights: 10:13 in. 35:55/37:08 in. 45:15 in. "A Madness Most Discreet" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wmqj Warner Bros. purchase link: No season seven loads found. Highlights: About 9:50 in. "Stormy Weather" By: Mark Snow https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wmul Warner Bros. purchase link: No season seven loads found. Highlights: 0:00 in. 2:20 in. 6:05 in. 10:25 in. 36:15 in. 33:05 in. 38:25 in. Hints of the score he did for an episode of "The X-Files" (I think the one where Mulder and Scully get trapped in a house by ghosts). "Legacies" By: Jeanette Acosta https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22wmv5 Warner Bros. purchase link: No season seven loads found. This is Acosta's only effort for the series. Highlights: 0:00 in. 4:14 in. 5:56 in. 8:54 in. 10:51 in. 12:54 in. 16:25 in. 19:23 in. 22:42/24:32 in. 25:41 in. 28:07 in. 31:14 in. 40:08 in. 43:49 in. I think I cited nearly the entire score (minus the source cues), so I might as well say I wouldn't be opposed to the whole thing being released. Acosta's score fits right in with Snow's style. It's a shame we didn't get to hear more from her. Acosta, going by her IMDb page, had a short scoring career -- only two TV shows. Also some music editing. NO LOADS FOUND. "Wheels Within Wheels" By: Bruce Miller "Channing vs. Channing" By: Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay "False Faces" By: Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay "Dirty Tricks" By: Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay "Flying Blind" By: Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay "The Key to Angela" By: Mark Snow "King's Gambit" By: Mark Snow "Telling Tales" By: Mark Snow "As Tears Go By" By: Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay This is the final effort by either composer for the series. "Last Dance" By: Mark Snow This is Snow's final effort for the series.

SEASON 9:
Good lord -- the theme music has been horribly butchered and even sounds cheesy at parts! I had to re-check the end credits to make sure it was even the Conti theme and not a new theme, that's how bad this is! "The Price of Freedom" By: Patrick O'Hearn https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2313ey Warner Bros. purchase link: No season nine loads found. Highlights: 0:00 in. 15:56 in. 20:44 in. 25:44 in. 29:06 in. "Charley" By: Patrick O'Hearn No link since I didn't cite anything. Warner Bros. purchase link: No season nine loads found. Begins out like something out of "Miami Vice". "Payback" By: Patrick O'Hearn https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2313gg Warner Bros. purchase link: No season nine loads found. Highlights: 11:28 in. 34:04 in. "God of the Grape" By: Patrick O'Hearn No link since I didn't cite anything. Warner Bros. purchase link: No season nine loads found. Highlights: Nothing. "Doctor Dollars" By: Chuck Wild https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x23140z Warner Bros. purchase link: No season nine loads found. This is the only effort for the series by Wild. Highlights: 1:42 in. 21:11 in. 40:47 in: Part of the "Thundercats" theme is re-done. This scoring makes Snow's synth work seem like genius in comparison. This is the low bar in scoring for the series. The Curse of the Final Season strikes again!

Wow, some great cues by Patrick O'Hearn there. Hopefully we will see a release of his score from Season 9 one day. I wonder if his label Private Music considered a release of this back in 1990.

For what it is, synth, it's probably one of the very few cues that actually services the episode and adds emotional impact. And that's the end of the series. I did a quick online search and while I didn't find the answer, I'd swear production moved to Australia; some of the actors look Australian, have an Australian accent, and I'm sure if I looked, both composers this season were Australian natives at the time of the series.

I forgot to include some final thoughts. Obviously I'd do sets by season, though with Snow's synth work, I think some other label (like buysoundtrax or the redundant spin-off label Dragons's Domain) should handle those and just leave the orchestral stuff apart. For the scoring of the final season, I'd also do that apart as well, Maybe let some other label handle that; it's not worth the effort and cost of any perspective well-known label to handle it. So, I might as well voice my complaints about O'Hearn's scoring. First Breath, we already know, we've seen the angry comments, read the complaints before, so you're forewarned not to read from this point onward until you see the underlined text. So: I just have so many complaints about his music. It's poorly conceptualized, almost damn near every cue; the majority of the time doesn't service the on-screen action; plods around in simplicity and repetition to annoying extents; and considering what other composers at the time (including Mark Snow) were doping with synths at the time, quick frankly a lot of cues were embarrassingly bad, even just straight out synth pads that went nowhere. And what he did to Conti's theme music, as I pointed out, is perhaps the worst butchering of an established opening theme I have ever heard; so cringingly awful. Including any of this scoring on a generic set of overall scoring from the show, only serves as a downer (in my opinion; save perhaps for that last cue of the series, which I'm sure some fans will wonder why it was left off). IT'S NOW SAFE, First Breath: I didn't comment on the them changes, aside from that final season, as I did with "Dynasty", but there were changes; sometimes two or more times in one season. As Snow is credited with Conti on ASCAP (and/or BMI), I assume he did the arrangements for those two seasons he scored. As always, I hope for the music, but it's unlikely it'll be released along with other shows I have made threads of.

Well, I couldn't really care less about your opinions about O'Hearn's scoring, but taking your anti-synth ramblings into consideration I find it somewhat amusing that Mark Snow's JAKE SPEED is among your favourite works, a score where even the guitar is performed by a synth. And Patrick O'Hearn will forever be a highly gifted musical soul, both on his albums and in scoring, having perfected his sound through a lifetime in music.

Well, I couldn't really care less about your opinions about O'Hearn's scoring,
And yet you read them anyway even though I gave you a chance to skip over them. So, tell me again how you didn't care... but taking your anti-synth ramblings into consideration
There are no anti-synth ramblings in this post or any other post of mine that I can recall. What there is is your bizarre predilection for synths and uncalled for attacks whenever somebody says something you don't like, adding your own further attacks on orchestral scoring. It's really in poor, poor, poor taste. I find it somewhat amusing that Mark Snow's JAKE SPEED is among your favourite works, a score where even the guitar is performed by a synth.
Only because you close your mind and eyes to differing opinions unless you want to read it to attack somebody else. If you have kept both open, you'd know that I -- for example -- have praised many a synth score, with prime examples being: "Jake speed", "The X-Files", "MillenniuM", "Miami Vice", and "Sheena". And by the by, aside from possibly the panpipe, there are no real instruments in "Jake Speed". And Patrick O'Hearn will forever be a highly gifted musical soul, both on his albums and in scoring, having perfected his sound through a lifetime in music.
Well, that was 99% not on display in "Falcon Crest". But if you want to sway others on his other work, remember the old phrase: "You'll catch more bees with honey than vinegar", so link to some examples.

OK, I'll tell you again: I don't really care about your opinions about Patrick O'Hearn. You keep mentioning my "attacks" on orchestral scoring and on you. I haven't mentioned The Holy Art of orchestral scoring at all in this thread, so calm down. And please don't tell me what is in "poor taste". What I think is in poor taste is your comments like "this cue is synth so it's bad", and "this cue sounds acoustic so it's good". I just don't get that. But oh well, keep it coming if that's important. And about Patrick O'Hearn, you can find more or less his whole catalogue on youtube, so please go ahead exploring it without me telling you what tracks you should play.

And yet here you are again reading it! You keep mentioning my "attacks" on orchestral scoring and on you.
I didn't say anything about me, though you generic catch-all insults do ensnare most members here. I haven't mentioned The Holy Art of orchestral scoring at all in this thread, so calm down.
Again with the bizarre attack. You're making giant mis-readings on a blanket level. And please don't tell me what is in "poor taste".
It is, considering how often and with what vitriol you do it. I've never see nan instance that I can recollect, where it even had the veneer of "necessity". But keep giving us vinegar, maybe things will change. What I think is in poor taste is your comments like "this cue is synth so it's bad", and "this cue sounds acoustic so it's good". I just don't get that.
You don't get it because I never said either of those things. I don't mean to be insulting, but it appears you lack any ability what so ever to read basic opinions without insinuating your own over it and reading that into it. Stuffing words into my mouth and thoughts into my brain. But oh well, keep it coming if that's important.
This is just utterly weird. Very very utterly weird. And about Patrick O'Hearn, you can find more or less his whole catalogue on youtube, so please go ahead exploring it without me telling you what tracks you should play.
Ignoring the construction criticism and then telling me to go around hunting is not going to get you anywhere. I am not going to go looking into any of his work. You want to change minds, do what other members have been doing here for two decades: provide examples. Or are you too high up on the horse to do that?
