Really enjoying the Duane Tatro scores on Disc 2. I expected the non-Frontiere scores to be of lesser interest to me, but I was mistaken – there's lots of very good stuff throughout. Terrific set.

I'm actually finding the second disc to be a more interesting listen overall due to the varied composers. As brilliant as the Frontiere music is, he was really oppressive with the gloom. Still, The Mutation has some wonderful piece and the "Migraine" cue from The Experiment are fantastic. Always was a favorite and overall one of my favorite episodes.

Good news. I've been asking for The Invaders scores for years.

The samples sound spectacular.

I know I'm gonna love this set when it gets here.

The only complain of Disc 2 is the under-represented score for "Quantity: Unknown" by Richard Markowitz.
They omitted the action cues: too bad!
The music editor recycles the score during season 2 a lot.

Because it was not INVADERS music.

Just making the same erroneous comment that you made about the Outer Limits cue I asked about.

Are you really sure? Any evidences? Any cue sheet to refer to?

My only complaint?

None. I don't have any. This is a fabulous release.

The question that comes to mind remains:
does Disc 2 a sampler or a complete score presentation or what's left from the master tapes?

I don't know for certain, but it looks like the cues were cherry picked. Quite possibly all of the music survived.

From Jon Burlingame on Facebook -
"None of this would have been possible without The Film Music Society, which supplied all of the original INVADERS tapes it inherited from the Quinn Martin music library."
"Disc 1 is all Dominic Frontiere, drawn from his three original INVADERS scores. Disc 2 contains excerpts from the other 11 original scores done for the series (five of them by the underrated Duane Tatro)."

So Disc 2 is a sampler and not the complete scores.
That explains why “Quantity: Unknown” is so under-represented.
It's a shame for composer Richard Markowitz that I really appreciate.

Anyway, that QM volume 2 is a fine release, especially Disc 1 with the three wonderful Dominic Frontiere's scores:
"The Mutation" is a masterpiece of television music.

Disc 2 features my two favorite scores by Duane Tatro:
"The Saucer"
"Valley of the Shadow" (I really enjoy the weird cues "Electronic Zap" and "Purple Gas")

You misunderstand me LC...I don't give a shot if the scores are complete, and I'm mocking those who do.

According to the liner notes of the QM set, volume 2, music supervisor John Elizalde tracked cues from The Outer Limits and an unsold pilot entitled Fanfare for a Death Scene (1964) for the pilot of The Invaders entitled "Beachhead".
The cues from Fanfare for a Death Scene are used for David Vincent's introduction to the landing site of the UFO while passing by Bud's Diner and, later on, while passing by Kelly's Diner and meeting the camper couple at night.

Oddly enough, the same year, the cues were also used for The Haunted (1964).

Find a clip and the evidence from Fanfare for a Death Scene (the pilot for the series Stryker)

That same cue is used on at least one episode of The Name of the Game. Frontiere is credited as the composer (as well as, I believe, associate producer).
