Most of the titles on this Japanese "Best of Carlo Rustichelli" LP/CD came directly from CAM and have in the meantime been released on regular CDs. With the exception of "Tema di Berta" from BUBÙ (which by the way is one of my personal favourite Rustichelli themes ever) the other ones which were not published by CAM were unfortunately not the original versions, but were arranged and conducted by Alessandro Blonksteiner for the 1974 CAM compilation LP "Le colonne sonore dei film di Pietro Germi":
https://www.discogs.com/de/Carlo-Rustichelli-Le-Colonne-Sonore-Dei-Film-Di-Pietro-Germi/release/1976890

This concerns IL FERROVIERE (1956), L´UOMO DI PAGLIA (1958) and UN MALEDETTO IMBROGLIO (1959) - these new arrangements from 1974 are just not as good as the original ones and were done in a typical 70s style with added use of some synths. The original versions are much better - and can be heard on a 45rpm RCA single of UN MALEDETTO IMBROGLIO and a 45rpm RCA EP of UOMO DI PAGLIA which were available in former times. But as CAM wasn´t the music publisher for these scores, they simply couldn´t use the versions from the old records in 1974 and had to make new arrangements for them.

Not aware of its being on DVD or Blu Ray ...

Also here in Europe of course no DVD or Blu-Ray is available of SETTE CONTRO LA MORTE/THE CAVERN. But in Germany the film has at least been shown on regular TV one or two times several years ago. And also in Italy. Here for example is the original Italian version shown on RAI TV (if it is possible in your country to view it):

Thanks Stefan I thought some of the tracks might not be the originals but I loved them anyway especially when it is all I have for some of them.

Thought the track from Il Ferroviere might have been lifted from the movie because you can hear some sound effects and the boys voice.

Bubu is superb I also love the score.

Think I asked about Il Ferroviere and L'Uomo Di Paglia before and you mentioned that nothing survives, can't remember if I asked about Un Maledetto Imbroglio. Would love to buy any of these scores if the original music ever turns up.

Ok, if it is really the track with boy´s voice from IL FERROVIERE then they took it from the old Japan single of IL FERROVIERE. That Japan single had lifted the music directly from the film´s Main Title and Finale and you could also hear the boy´s voice and sound effects from the beginning of the film:
https://www.discogs.com/Franco-Ferrara-Il-Ferroviere-%E9%89%84%E9%81%93%E5%93%A1/release/10501819

However, the duration of 3:30 minutes on the "Best of" CD corresponds exactly with the "Uva" track from IL FERROVIERE on the Pietro Germi compilation LP which is irritating. The track from the single is shorter.

Unfortunately, UN MALEDETTO IMBROGLIO - as so many others - was also a Nazionalmusic title and therefore is lost. Even though two original tracks (on side A the famous song "Sinnò me moro" sung by Rustichelli´s daughter Alida Chelli which was a worldwide success at that time) were released on a RCA single:

Never knew that Alida Chelli was Carlo's daughter I love that track

Maybe that could be a typo for the LP the cd listing on Soundtrack collector has the correct timings:

Indeed, the timing on Soundtrack Collector with 2:23 is the correct one. So it is clear that they used the FERROVIERE track from the old Japanese single.

Alida Chelli also sang that song from UN MALEDETTO IMBROGLIO in the film itself (during Main Title and Finale). She was at that time only 16 years old.
There exists also an interesting RCA single where she sings the main themes from IL FERROVIERE (La dedico a te) and L´UOMO DI PAGLIA (Giorni e giorni). Ennio Morricone did the arrangements and conducted the orchestra for these two cover versions in 1960:

On that list the CAM singles of Le Castagne Sono Buone and Vogliamo I Colonnelli still need a CD release. I would also welcome Permettete signora che ami vostra figlia? (1974)

SETTE CONTRO LA MORTE CD will be available next week.
You can order it from the usual stores in Europe, USA and Japan.
I hope you like it, it's a great score from Carlo Rustichelli.

Are there any sound samples for this (and the other Saimel releases)?

Unfortunately, there are still no sound samples on the Rosebud website for this CD. I hope that Juan Angel can still upload a few sound clips when he has sufficient time.
Of the Saimel CDs that we did together you can find sound clips for these CDs there:
AMORE MIO (Savina):

Many thanks for sharing the links, Stefan.

I already knew the Rota and have now ordered "Sette Contro La Morte" along with "Amore Mio". It's really impressive that so many classic Italian titles are being released. The attention is fully deserved because most of the 1950s and 1960s titles are really great.
