Yeah, same here. But I doubt LLL would be interested to expand those, when they've already done so much TNG and even included some fan requests like the missing cues from Tin Man on their 50th Anniversary set. I think the last TNG LLL is going to do is one disc of their upcoming four disc fan requests final Trek box set, and I doubt they will devote any of that limited space to cues previously released on GNP's Vols. 3 or 4. I could be wrong.

I can't understand why anyone would want ANY music FROM ST:TNG.

Before Rick Berman took over and started blandifying it up, there was some pretty great music written for the show. Hell, Ron Jones kept writing interesting stuff even after Berman was in charge, which is why he eventually lost his job despite the consistently high quality of his work.

Couple of reasons, but this one is most relevant to the topic.

And apparently, the folks in charge of the teasers and trailers for Star Trek: First Contact liked the music so much they included Ron Jones' work in the film's teaser!

And let's not forget that when it came to the real trash show that was 'Shades of Gray", listening to Ron Jones' score for that episode really showcases that he was the only real person putting any solid effort into that episode. Again, the guy Rick Berman fired.

TNG had some great music and some really boring wallpaper but for the most part, it was just great hearing a real orchestra on a television series.

Ron Jones work on the series was exemplary in every way and I can't understate that. His episodes stand out, if only for the music. The Best of Both Worlds is epic cinema quality music for the small screen.

Back on topic--

The booklet on the GNP release was pretty abysmal but I couldn't really justify buying another release of this score, seeing as how I already have two, unless there is something significant on it that has never seen the light of day.

Me. Right Here. I'm someone who loves the music from TNG, especially the scores from Ron Jones, but also much of what McCarthy and Chattaway provided, from all seasons of the show. It's my favorite Trek series, so that probably makes a difference.

I don't like the series so that may be why the music never moved me- except for Jerry's great FIRST CONTACT score!

Watch the episodes Ron Jones scored and you'll feel differently. He was up there with Goldsmith, Horner, Steiner, Kaplan, and Courage, but he was let go for not writing wallpaper.

One of the best composers to grace TV. If only he had received enough limelight to do motion picture scores.

Well that would be a great way to ensure I won't buy it.

The only way to release all of the alternates alongside the complete score as heard in film is via a second disc, so why not remaster the original album too? It would be better than having a 15 minute disc 2, plus it would eliminate mastering errors on the original album.

Or how about 2 discs of 50 minutes?

Or even add another 10 with the songs.

Why assume disc 1 would be a redux of the first expansion.

I swear, this forum sometimes...

What?!

The expanded edition allows the score to " breathe" We can see how Goldsmith " develops" his material.
The ost allows us to study how The Maestro programs and edits his score for an album presentation.
We get a unique insight into his creative process.
Everybody knows that!

Maybe because the complete score takes up almost one entire CD? Adding a second disc means all the alternates, songs, and the original album could be together on it.

Yes, because what I suggested was so objectionable. Fuck me, right?

If this does get a 2-CD version with the rest of the alternates released then I'm game for it. I love the 1 CD release all ready.

Although I guess it do/n't really matter too much to me since I don't care about alternates that much and am fine with the quality of the foot warmer for the remaining alternates.
