Young, yes please. Giacchino - the first is one of his best scores ( sez me ) and maybe his best film theme to date ( sez me again but I'm right on this point ) so that'd be nice . But no Elfman, please.
I love Young and would be thrilled to see him on this, but I don't think it's likely. Elfman was originally set to score 'The Gift' (he even has a cameo), but it ended up clashing with Proof of Life and he had to leave. Spider-Man 3 was offered to Elfman, but he turned it down. Elfman was hired to score Spider-Man 4 before it fell apart.
If Raimi has the decision, Elfman will score this. He kept gushing about Elfman during the Oz press tour.
That said, I think all Raimi films have good to great scores and look forward to it regardless of who's scoring.
I can tell you from Elfman's QA in Paris, during the Philharmonie week-end, that he's more than ready for a collaboration with Raimi. "He's just not doing films for the moment" was pretty much his conclusion.
So if it's Raimi's choice and Elfman is available, it's a deal.
Yeah, and I can't see how it wouldn't be Raimi's choice. Marvel seemingly haven't pushed composers on any director, bar Tyler on The Dark World, and Taylor isn't quite Raimi.
Raimi called Elfman as soon as he was hired for Spider-Man and Oz, so it may already be a done deal.
Giacchino has said he's scoring five movies next year. The Batman and Jurassic World are confirmed, and I'd imagine Spider-Man 3 is, too. I'd imagine the other two will come from Doctor Strange 2, The Matrix 4, Thor: Love and Thunder and the untitled Pixar movie.
Didn't the original directer and writer leave the project? Jesus, the new writer has no experience writing anything! Probably gonna be the Scarlet Witch show, co-starring Doctor Strange.

I doubt Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness will come out next year due to COVID-19. Some have even speculated that the sequel would eventually be delayed from it's May 2021 release date after Derrickson bailed and when Marvel hired a new writer.
Hate is much too strong a term; I'm simply dismissive of a minor talent whose career success flies in the face of the third-rate calibre of his musical output.
Show yourself the door before someone does it for you.
Hopefully, They won't parachute in Brian Tyler this time.
It was the other way around, they brought in Elfman at the last moment to save the day
Yes, from what I learned, off the record, Brian Tyler burned bridges with Marvel in the "Ultron" mess and won't be invited back to score any more of their films. This is pretty evident since he hasn't scored any of their movies since 2015.
This is one of those unique film score tragedies. (Call it the "Iron Man effect," or maybe the "Potter Doyle effect.") Elfman's score will probably be great, and if he were going to write a killer theme for any single Marvel hero, it's Dr. Strange. (Sorry, Spidey and Bruce.) But Strange already had a killer theme, and my anticipation for what Elfman will produce is counterbalanced by the knowledge that we almost certainly won't hear new permutations of Gia's theme, which really only hit its full stride in the closing minutes of the film.
But maybe I'm wrong. Elfman was a sport with Tyler's Iron Man theme in Ultron, as well as Zimmer's Wonder Woman theme in Justice League. Maybe he can write a killer villain theme and leave Strange to Giacchino. (But of course, I'm still hoping against reason that Wanda goes full tragic-villain by the end of WandaVision and winds up the antagonist of Multiverse, and Beck already wrote a perfectly good theme for her.)

Six episodes into WandaVision and I'm thinking there's no way that would be a bad thing, personally.
And yeah it would be cool if Elfman revisited his Maximoff theme...though I also like Beck's work.
I find it amusing people are losing their minds over Giacchino not returning. His theme for Doctor Strange was autopilot Giacchino. Very similar to other things he has done.
I for one am looking forward to seeing what Elfman can do with this return working with Raimi.
I'd have been excited had this been Elfman circa about fifteen years ago, but not so much now. For me, personally, Elfman is a miss way more often than a hit.

What on earth are you talking about? What other things has he done which sound similar to this?
I sure would like to hear them! I found this to be an unusually long-lined theme from Giacchino.
