I wanted to get the John williams disaster set but its OOS, thought it was back in stock 2 weeks ago.

Anyway I picked up other John williams stuff like Far and Away, Minority Report, Saving Private Ryan, and old school James horner with Project X, and World is Not enough.

Had a gift certificate still from last year so everything with shipping, which was a ball busting $14, was $80.

It's too bad gift cards or out-of-stock titles cannot be bought during the sale, but I guess they want to move existing inventory. Maybe some titles will get reprinted before it's over.

I literally just ordered yesterday.. I should've waited a day! But this might make me purchase another. This stay at home order has only increased my spending it seems!

I wonder if any of the non-box set titles will come back in stock before the end of the sale. Definitely grabbing the two most recent JW titles, but I'd love to lump Stargate in there as well. Not worth losing out on the others, though.

They obviously removed the high dollar box sets

It's true that the two "Williams trilogy" sets (Disaster and Harry Potter) are out of stock, but one can still save...

$21 OFF the epic 5 CD Planet of the Apes set (now works out to $49 on sale, less than $10 a score):
https://lalalandrecords.com/planet-of-the-apes-original-film-series-soundtrack-collection-limited-edition-5-cd-box-set/

$18 OFF my *favorite* release of 2019, the Paramount Westerns Collection -- 4 jam-packed CDs with all the surviving music (all previously unreleased) from no less than 11 scores, all different composers (now works out to $42 on sale, LESS THAN $4 PER SCORE -- MUST BUY; it's now as great a deal as the Intrada Waxman set from 2017!)
https://lalalandrecords.com/nevada-smith-the-paramount-westerns-collection-limited-edition-4-cd-set/

$18 OFF each these similarly-priced 4 disc box sets for various TV shows, rendering them also about $10 per packed disc ($42 total)...
Land of the Giants: https://lalalandrecords.com/land-of-the-giants-50th-anniversary-soundtrack-collection-limited-edition-4-cd-set/
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: https://lalalandrecords.com/buffy-the-vampire-slayer-collection-limited-edition-4-cd-set/
Batman TAS Vol. 2: https://lalalandrecords.com/batman-the-animated-series-vol-2-limited-edition/
Batman TAS Vol. 3: https://lalalandrecords.com/batman-the-animated-series-vol-3-limited-edition-4-cd-set/
Voyager Vol. 1: https://lalalandrecords.com/star-trek-voyager-collection-limited-edition-4-cd-set/
Voyager Vol. 2: https://lalalandrecords.com/star-trek-voyager-collection-vol-2-limited-edition-4-cd-set/
Enterprise Vol. 1: https://lalalandrecords.com/star-trek-enterprise-collection-limited-edition-4-cd-set/
Enterprise Vol. 2: https://lalalandrecords.com/star-trek-enterprise-collection-vol-2-limited-edition-4-cd-set/
(sorry, DS9 fans...Vol. 1 sold out and Vol. 2 is out of stock at the moment)

And guess what? The highest-dollar box set of all IS in stock! That's right...Star Trek: The Original Series can be had for $67.50 OFF its original price of $225 for a total of $157.50 (still a lot of dough, but what are the chances of it getting much cheaper?)
https://lalalandrecords.com/star-trek-the-original-series-soundtrack-collection-limited-edition-15-cd-box-set/

It was always a fairly expensive set (in part because LLL had to sub-license some music from GNP Crescendo), but it's a lot more reasonable now, at only $10.50 per packed disc of music. And it's an incredible release.

Oh! There are a couple less expensive $50 4 CD TV box sets too, now available for $35 each ($15 off), or $8.76 per packed disc:
X-Files Vol. 3: https://lalalandrecords.com/x-files-the-vol-3-limited-edition-4-cd-box-set/
Star Trek 50th Anniversary Collection (cool set!): https://lalalandrecords.com/star-trek-50th-anniversary-collection-musical-rarities-from-across-the-star-trek-universe-limited-edtion-4-cd-set/

Oh, and if you combine Batman TAS Vols. 1 & 4, you basically get a third 4 CD box set of great music from that show for only $50 (now $35) total unlike $60 which Vols. 2 & 3 are priced at...this is some of the best TV music ever composed:
https://lalalandrecords.com/batman-the-animated-series-limited-edition-2-cd-set/
https://lalalandrecords.com/batman-the-animated-series-vol-4-limited-edition-2-cd-set/

All in all someone could get the entire music written for Batman: The Animated Series (remember The Adventures of Batman and Robin, coming presumably in 2020 from LLL, was technically a different show) on 12 CDs for $119 on sale (or less than $10 a disc), rivaling the Star Trek TOS box set!

Oh yeah and there even a couple of $40 4 CD TV box sets, now only $28 or $7 per disc:
X-Files Vol. 1 (reissue): https://lalalandrecords.com/x-files-the-vol-one-limited-edition-re-issue-4-cd-set/
X-Files Vol. 2: https://lalalandrecords.com/x-files-the-volume-two-limited-edition-4-cd-set/

Yavar, the mathematician.

I was looking at his list and noticed a pattern. It's almost as if every release is 30% less than the list price. You could almost simplify the entire thing to read: every title 30% off.

Shipping costs remain the customers' responsibility, though.

My 30% discount was offset by $15+, so my net savings is closer to 17%.

And since you'd pay postage regardless, it's still a 30% savings on the product. You can't expect them to discount the postage, too. wink

Sure, it's 30% off product.

My discount came to around $34.

But a portion of this went toward $15 shipping, so I saved $19.

I didn't 'walk away' with the $34.

Well, I've made my purchase. I guess I was a little put out that I missed the recent Goldsmith sale... and I must've been in a Western mood:

Bandolero!
Stagecoach/The Loner
Take A Hard Ride
100 Rifles/Rio Conchos
Nevada Smith: The Paramount Westerns Collection

Yavar was the tipping point for my purchase of Nevada Smith when he made the comparison to the Waxman set, which I absolutely love. smile

They were all blind buys for me. I love Goldsmith, but I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with the above films/scores. Can anyone speak to how good the music is?

You would think Intrada would but their sales are always just on a few titles and average like once per year. I think I remember the first time they did a sale and they were really contemplating whether or not to have one. Like it was a major decision. They’re a funny label.

Thanks — glad to know my post wasn’t totally useless. smile They’re similar sort of packed projects (both 11 unreleased scores on four discs), and when you realize Lukas Kendall was involved in both you start to see why — they’re basically like the fantastic FSM bargain sets we used to get! (Raksin, Kaper, Schifrin, and yes...WESTERNS)

It’s a great set. One or two scores may not be your thing, but there’s such variety you’re pretty much guaranteed to like something...

I love the Goldsmith western scores. The 100 Rifles/Rio Conchos twofer is probably my favorite of the bunch you got. If you don’t have Rio Lobo you should also pick that up at some point from LLL...

Rio Lobo is the only Goldsmith western score I have, besides Prometheus Records' rerecording of Hour of the Gun, and they are both great. I feel pretty confident that I'll be happy with my purchase.

Rio Lobo is the only Goldsmith western score I have,

Looks like it's now OOP. LLL shows it was greatly discounted. I got it by accident last year, and wouldn't have bought it based on the movie, but the CD was a pleasant surprise.

Could anyone who is familiar with La-La Land's release of Jerry Goldsmith's Magic and with Varese's previous release of the score please offer their opinions on whether it is worth upgrading? I have the Varese release and am curious as to whether the sound on the La-La Land release is improved with the revised master. Other than getting the additional ~30 second cue, is it worth upgrading if you're a fan of the score? I tried searching for any discussion on this in past threads but had no luck finding much of anything. I'm looking to get a handful of things during the current sale and am debating including this.

Thank you and hope all are staying well and healthy!

I didn't buy it for only 30 seconds, but its produced by the late Nick Redman, & Mike Matessino & engineered by Mike quality guaranteed the liner-notes are a whole lot better snazzy art-work too, I might grab it what a terrific sale this is.

The revised master has been polished, removing some beautiful texture from the instruments.

It's the same with other "revised" masters, like The Egyptian.

A revised master can't be better than its source, unless you like the Matessino touch.
