AT THE MOVIES by Stanley Clarke - which includes the Main Title to Passenger 57 that isn't included on the album.

All originals except for Chi Mai (its the "hit single" version that showed in Le Professional and Life snd Times of David Lloyd George).

Thanks for all these terrific suggestions!

I've long seen this album, but always assumed they were typical Mancini re-recordings. So they're actually the soundtrack cues??

I'm sure those are mostly if not entirely re-recordings.

That's correct. Those are the RCA "Original Score" recordings that were all we had for 50 years. All composed, arranged, and conducted by Mancini.

I'm not sure 'Themes' by Vangelis are original recordings, sounds to me like re-recorded versions, at least, some of them

Three identically-named John Williams compilations, with slightly different contents from the original soundtrack recordings...

Man I always wanted that first John Williams compilation as (in the 90s!) it had the only easily available version of the Men of the Yorktown March which I seem to recall having in a crappy WAV file but longed for a decent recording. Alas I think that particular iteration was difficult to acquire (maybe Japanese import?). A friend had the second one while I had various re-recordings. Although in fairness I had all of the available scores in their original forms so it was less crucial to acquire!

A little digging reveals that the first one was a Japanese only import, indeed. wink

Yes, it was. Bought mine at Footlight Records in NYC back in 1996.

Thanks for that as well--seems a bit harder to find decent and decently priced copies but I know to keep my eyes peeled. Appreciated!

I believe CAST AWAY also was a re-release of the Silvestri VOYAGE

Elfman’s Music for a Darkened Theater 1 + 2 was also original recordings

Must have been the most representive version of the JAWS 2 score at that time
