One of the greatest film scores ever. It’s that good. Jarre’s masterpiece.

I’ve long been hoping this would get a re-release purely for the lovely arrangement of Sonny Boy on piano which closes the movie.

A classic.

Right on man,right on.

Just saw the movie again for the first time since the teather.
Much better than I remembered.
Hated the twisted at the time. Love it now.
Go figure...

The score is quite good!
Sounded like Jarre was really inspired and knew what he was doing whith the keyboards for the first time!

Isn't these cues from the deleted scenes?

21. Antidote (0:59)
22. Pleasant Dreams (2:24)
23. Demons (0:56)
24. Demons Are Gone (1:19)
25. Floor Play (1:31)
26. Transformation (1:46)

Vivid memories of seeing this and that ‘shaking figure’ effect that became so much of a horror standard but was fresh here.

Probably inspired by.... wink

There were several scenes cut from the last act of the movie after the preview audience complained about it being too depressing. They can be seen on BluRay extra features and might be on Youtube. One scene in particular - where the Matt Craven character gives Jacob a drug to rid him of the hallucinations - is very intense. The last minute of the "Inferno" cue on the original album - with the noisy choir and and gong hits - seems to sync up to this scene.

Fantastic news. This is my favorite Jarre score. I wouldn’t have thought there was enough to expand but I’m overjoyed this is happening.

I'm extremely excited about this release, I've always thought Jarre's score fit the movie beautifully. Can't wait to hear the new material, including the Sonny Boy end title.

Here's a little amateur piano tribute I made a few months ago.

Very beautifull performance, friend!

Thanks! I’m starting to question my instincts to post it - don’t want to detract from the awesome release. big grin

‘85-‘90 is an embarrassment of electronic Jarre riches.

Where does this bad rap come from given such high quality of work?

Is it the fact he was one of the most decorated orchestral film composers for so long before making such a huge change?

Or simply that he was using a common film scoring style which, unfortunately, his son was more famous for using?

Mosquito Coast, Fatal Attraction, Ghost, Dead Poets Society, After Dark My Sweet, Jacob’s Ladder, etc... how many classic electronic scores does a feller have to drop in such a short space of time?

Dead Poets finaly is ruined by Jarre's electronics.
I cringed in the theaters.

Enemy Mine is a fine score - the orchestral parts, of course.
The electronic ones are atrocious.

Only Jacob's Ladder has some nice timbres of electronic. The other scores you mentioned are just awful.
Jean Michel Jarre is a god when compared with his father on the keyboards.

Jean Michel Jarre is more a technician than a real musician,he can't stand one seconde before his father Maurice

As a composer, yes.
As a keyboard expert, no.
