Yes, it was always believed that LP was a re-record and alteration of the tracks, especially the Trio - and that was always the problem. It was one of the worst LP presentations of one of the greatest scores of all time. Thank heavens for the work of the guys on the expanded - GDM, Winkler, ehresmann, who gave us a much more accurate presentation, with most of the missing key tracks included. This one sounds great, though. Look forward to getting it. EDIT later in the thread it comes to light that the LP wasnt a rerecord, but mixed differently. Only the Triello was redone. In good faith I was going on 50 years of many fans conclusions that film and LP sounded so vastly different on a couple of tracks it was therefore a rerecord. At least we have had the situation clarified.

I agree with Thor. This is one of those scores that works better in an abbreviated form. All those million versions of human screams and strange noises are indeed too much. 3CDs? Wow!

I've been waiting for this release since I saw the film in 1968. Finally, a dream come true. Thanks Quartet.

OMG, some of you people are so fucking predictable in your responses. Ya know, if you don't like the presentation, don't fucking buy it. J what would be this forum without a little bitching
