I've got a feeling that title will soon be "sold out".....unless they print some more ?
Just like they did with 'Dedicato al mare Egeo'... (superb score !)

This came today. Should have been yesterday. I have just finished my first play through. I was a bit worried when it didn't start the way I was expecting it to. No big thumping gangster music til track five. I thought it was the main title. It not as overblown as I was expecting. The couple of source cues are also ok. Not sure if there's about of distortion in the.11, could be my ears. There's a touch of machine gun McCain about it in parts, to my ears.Still it's a new release by the master ( and Bruno).

No extra charges.

Seeing all this positive buzz makes me want it, but is Quartet still not shipping orders to the UK under £135 or whatever it is?

I hadn't seen a notice that this restriction was lifted to presume it's still in place.

Cheers

I think Music Box are still doing that, but not Quartet. I bought a couple of discs from Quartet the other day. No problem, and they arrived within three days.

Duh, you're right Les. I wasn't thinking straight. Yes, it was Music Box, not Quartet. Silly me.

Gergely Hubai writes "this program offers a cohesive listening experience" and I would say that understates what I found to be one of the best programmed albums I've heard in a very long time.

Great job Quartet!

Interesting question, Bill. I would guess that yes, probably. Yes, probably some people in the U.S indeed do have this, although I have no facts to go on, no statistical evidence.

I could get/ could have got/ gotten this for the price of two pints of your best ale, barsteward, but as yooz all know, Morricone is not yet in my Top 10 composers of all time, although I'm just beginning to hear a hint of genius in some of his scores. I may have to explore more of his work. Why oh why didn't I get this, when it's sitting there in the shop window across the road? The answer is that I already have too much stuff. Only last week I got six new (for me) CDs, and I haven't had the chance to really LISTEN to them yet. That'll take another six months. And I haven't played one of my favourite scores ever, CLEOPATRA (Alex North) in over ten years.

I am digesting the first of my new batch, Gerald Fried's FEAR AND DESIRE (plus other mini-scores by the composer). Not only do I have to (yes, HAVE TO) listen to it properly over a period of three two weeks, I also have to seek out the films and hear how the music fits, if at all. Actually, I did watch two of the features presented on disc, but I have to listen to the music again AND post some rabbits here. Then next up is...hang on...oh, it's a Morricone - SPASMO. Expect elongated rabbits until autumn.

I hope this helps.

As Henry wrote, this is a holy grail for some of us, though for me not perhaps as much as for example LA REGAZZA E IL GENERALE (The Girl and the General), DANGER DIABOLIK or GIOCHI PARTICOLORI (The Voyeur), but unfortunately the tapes are lost for those. I have had and enjoyed the unmentionable of ROMA COME CHICAGO for years, as well as the 2 tracks on the HORNETS NEST Poo LP. Interesting to hear the links in this score to some of his other gangster scores of this period such as SVEGLIATI E UCCIDI.
What a shame that in his notes Gergely Hubai suggests that Nicolai not only conducted scores for Morricone, but also orchestrated for him, which as we know is completely incorrect.
