LIONHEART is a terrific score, I don't here a "parody", and especially not of LEGEND, which is stylistically a completely different score. For me, the weakest thing in the LIONHEART music is the orchestral performance, which isn't up to the technical polish most other Goldsmith recordings have. I don't have an issue with the synths in the score at all, they are an integral part of the score's fabric. (And don't have performance issues.) The music is wonderful and I certainly like it a lot (even if I like LEGEND even more.)

I actually like the synth effects that Goldsmith employed for the goblins. They're weird and alien sounding and capture their appearance perfectly. I was more freaked out when I heard them appear in TIMELINE (where's the goblins, I thought).

For the record, my pick would be LEGEND. It towers above LIONHEART as a piece of music and film scoring. It's easily in the Top 20 of Best Goldsmith scores for me. LIONHEART is good, but might struggle to make my Top 50. But that's down to how great I consider so many of his other scores.

I agree with Kev McG ,back in the day legend was regarded by many in the film music world as one of Jerry Goldsmiths most creative with its mixture of debussy ,bartok,ravel and stravinsky ,type soundings, he created an aural landscape for the film,Lionheart was more of a straight forward follow the film type of score. As a side note I was due to attend one of the recordings for Legend,I has previously attended a session for First Great train Robbery and Supergirl (a family friend worked with Sidney Sax of the national philharmonic)I still regret not going

I could never get into Legend because of the synth farts. I've listened to a few tracks and gave up. Lionheart also has annoying synths. I generally dislike the way Goldsmith uses them with a few exceptions. Pretty much a complete wash for me. For once we agree. Goldsmith's terrible synth use in the 80s, in particular, is a pet peeve of mine (and I keep ruffling feathers around here every time I mention it). But I like some of the electronic things he did in the 60s and 70s. I always thought it weird that so many people are bothered by the synths. To me, they are like any other instrument used, it's like complaining about mandolins or pianos.
