I always wonder how much of that is down to Singer being 'a brat' to not being able to have his first choice/best mate John Ottman score the film?

When I was at Wonder Con years ago, I attended a Superman Returns panel featuring Brian Singer. He was asked about whether Superman Returns would feature Williams's Superman music, and after confirming its usage Singer also said that he had talked with John Williams about scoring X-Men, but that Williams declined citing his commitment to scoring The Patriot. Who knows whether Williams would have signed on if he had had the time, but I would have been very excited to hear his take on the X-Men.

Back to the score that exists, I have been enjoying this new set quite a bit. I enjoy it far more than I did the original album. Thanks so much for this release La-La Land!

Williams scoring X-Men is indeed a very interesting though! I wonder of Shuler-Donner would've dared to pull the same crap she pulled on Kamen. And it also interesting to wonder how Williams would've handled Singer's more "bratty" persona (then again, Williams seemed to get along fine with Oliver Stone, who by all accounts also is a drugged-up mad man).

I'll second that statement. It spins more than I thought it would. I never had the 2000 release because there is too much missing but this 2 1/2 hours are very good. Really enjoing the alternate versions of "Cerebro" and "The X-Jet".

Still getting a kick out of trawling through the many permutations (mutations?) of this score.
Through it all, Kamen's unique voice and style always shines through.
I'm getting close to my 'whittle/transfer' edition for what I will play on-the-go.
It's quite the journey.
Not a great deal of chat about this release so far, which I thought would be a Big Seller success for LLL.
Any comments?

...and my last Kamen. What a steaming pile of poop. I do not get it at all. I could not even listen to the first disc all the way through. I quickly grabbed Egisto Macchi- Biologia to even my brain out after that mess.

Does nothing for me either. Won't be my last because I want his Bond and Highlander score, but this isn' working for me as a listening experience.
