”Ape alone... weak. Apes together... strong.”
Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Patrick Doyle

This reboot, which spawned two sequels, was released in theaters 10 years ago today. Even though I was skeptical about this movie from the trailers, I thought it was a pretty good beginning of the Caesar trilogy, which had some excellent call backs to the original Planet Of The Apes (1968) film. Doyle’s score is at times percussive, aggressive, and poignant. Caesar’s emotional theme is the standout theme. The triumphal rendition of Caesar’s emotional theme (during “Off You Go” and “Caesar‘s Home”) addresses Caesar embracing his freedom. I’m still surprised Michael Giacchino didn’t adapt Doyle’s Caesar theme for the two following installments. He’s normally open about adapting themes from franchises he didn’t kick off. I haven’t any issue with Giacchino’s own emotional theme for Caesar but just would’ve been interesting to hear Doyle’s theme evolve throughout the sequels especially with how the trilogy concluded.
