Another above average superhero score from Beltrami.

Venom: LTBC has got hard edged action, suspense, character driven drama and a welcome dollop of humor. But at 68 mins. it loses focus over the long haul, so I pruned it down to 19 tracks totaling 48 mins. (juggling one track).

1. St. Estes Reform School (Extended)
3. Eddie Draws
5. Lucky Slaughterhouse
13. Mulligan Visits Eddie
6. Ann's News
8. Postcard From the Edge
9. No Touching!
12. Carnage Unleashed
15 Get Shriek
16. The Great Escape
18. People Seeing Monsters
19. Find Venom
20. Turn on the Charm
21. Eddie Escapes
23. You Can Eat Them All
24. Unholy Matrimony, Part 1
25. Unholy Matrimony, Part 2
26. He Did Not Taste Good
29. Venom and Blues

I dug Ludwig Göransson's score for the first film, which ended up being the best thing about that movie for me at least. So I was disappointed he didn't return for the sequel, but Beltrami taking over more than makes up for it. I'm sure he delivered a fun score that'll end up being the best thing about this sequel.

It's not the best thing about the sequel. Maybe not even Top 5 (it'll fall behind Tom Hardy's acting, the incredible mid-credits scene, Robert Richardson's cinematography, and the Halloween rave, at least).

Really enjoying this score!! There's an interview where Beltrami talks about the temp track, and in three separate places I hear Dark Knight, Rogue One, and Avengers. All three references are entertaining, the original theme's are fun, and the whole thing is a great listen.

There is no mention of temp track, and nothing like those scores you mentioned.

"He [the director] was working on the picture and he had an editor and they had some music in [the film], and I could sort of get a feel for what they were going for."

I haven't heard such an overt reference to temp tracking in a long time! I can pick out music that was pretty obviously temped from those three movies I mentioned, but I'm sure there's more; there's other parts that sound familiar. Doesn't take away any from my enjoyment of the score though!

Really enjoying this score, it definitely benefits from repeated listens. Lots of fun and interesting orchestrations!

For anyone wondering, I can confirm that the European CD release is definitely a properly pressed disc (unlike the American CDR version).
