Yes..in a way the lush Barry is not my cup of tea as well... But nevertheless great that this one is being released...and to be fair I only heard the suite on youtube, which didnt impress me ,but reading the track list there might be some highlights not in the suite. and His music is the most ideal, for me, in the Suites & Themes format. Probably more so than any other film composer I can think of. Completely the opposite for me. Whilst Dances with Wolves is too long (> 98 mins) in its extended version to listen to in one sitting, this is the only one of his scores I've split (unlike many other composers' works). And I'm happy to have the complete recording plus alternates, bonus tracks, etc. As for the score in question, it has its detractors ... including some JB fans, but it's a film/score I've known since the film's cinematic release and I've watched it several times. I've also read Evelyn Anthony's novel from which it is taken twice. The score is dominated by two main themes: a truly gorgeous love theme which, typical for Barry, has several variations including the lovely song; and a simple but very effective action theme which, although split to match the visuals, runs 10+ minutes, building as the tension increases. It's a great ear-worm which accompanies the visuals perfectly (of course ). The Nic Raine/CoPP 1999 recording is a good representation but the action theme therein is too short, leaving this listener wanting more. A fabulous score.

The sound isn’t great. Some tracks are better than others. Some are in mono. But it’s great to have after all this time!

Yes I will probably buy this - saw the film as a teenager - not impressed. However I suspect I would appreciate it more now. As far as being anyone's cup of tea:-https://drhealthbenefits.com/food-bevarages/beverages/tea/benefits-of-tamarind-tea Regards CC

I'm puzzled practically everyone is listing this EXCEPT Silva Screen themselves. I've seen a number of UK buyers ordering from Screen Archives, but UK buyers, as much as I love Screen Archives, you'll get it much quicker and much cheaper ordering direct from Silva when they list it. If you order it from Screen Archives, the CD has to be shipped from the UK to the US (the cost of that being added to the unit price), then shipped back again (with expensive postage), with all the delays and added cost that entails, plus you might get charged import duties. So, UK buyers, hold out for Silva Screen listing it. Cheers

Thanks James. Geoff just pointed me at that link too. I notice you still can't pre-order it yet but that's okay, that will be possible all in good time. I'm also happy to see it's also being made available digitally. I hope there's a hi-def option for the download even though I acknowledge James Southall's comment that the sound quality of the sources isn't brilliant. (No fault of Silva Screen, it's the limitations of the sources.) Cheers

I did, with Geoff's arrangement, have a (brief) email conversation with David Stoner several years ago about possibly writing notes for this release, but it was just brief and it was many years ago. I would have done it then, but I haven't been interested in that kind of thing for years now to be honest. I imagine Geoff may have contributed notes. Cheers

Will this be available via Amazon UK too? I imagine so, probably also on the Soundtracks Direct store on eBay, which is Silva Screen's eBay store. Fastest delivery, in the UK at least, is probably from Silva Screen via their website or their eBay store. Cheers
