Ok. I was wrong with my guess's. So this means previous release was not so true "complete" and "stereo"... It was stereo; some of it was just processed into stereo from split mono sources (which isn’t that uncommon). I’m sure this one will be much better though. As for truly being complete, well, I think the 2CD was complete in terms of what’s in the film. They said it was and nobody ever contradicted them with examples of cues in the film that weren’t on the album. But my guess is that their earlier source for the score was just cues used in the finished film (instead of full original sessions or something…the “print takes” which was also their source of Face of a Fugitive earlier this year). Now they apparently found an earlier generation source that SURPRISE contains more music! Very exciting; can’t wait to see the tracklist. Let's hope that this release will not be another Intrada's "45 days-only" release. Zero chance of that. You think they’re going to go to all the trouble of locating new sources, license from both UMG and Universal Pictures, and then only have it available for 45 days? They’ve only done that for re-releases of stuff they control in perpetuity, which they want to transition into the digital realm. So far just Excalibur rerecordings they produced and own outright, and Inchon — one of the few OSTs they negotiated perpetuity rights for. Yavar

I didn't buy the Intrada 2 disc edition (I already had a 2 disc boot bought from SAE years before) and I've always loved the MCA album, on LP and CD. A perfect highlights programme for me and the one I got to know first/most. I'll check out the track list next week and it might well be part of my first order of 2022. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF 3 Discs!! MASADA 4 Dicsc!! Oy Vey!! Don’t forget THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK! I’ll be having the most Jewish Christmas ever this year….L’CHAIM! (So tempted to do a Tevye-like celebratory dance, I’m so happy!) Will have to have this for the London-recorded album alone. I hope I enjoy Morton Stevens' work as well.

Just because folks are asking elsewhere, I thought I'd copy and paste this from the Intrada forum: Don’t get hopes up for a Soundtrack Spotlight episode on Masada, alas. I can’t fit in any more after having done Legend, and as we approach the end of 2021 the Intrada folks are super busy too! Notice The Goldsmith Odyssey still hasn't done a Spotlight on Shamus and that was a total premiere (had to choose whether to prioritize doing that at the time, or The Public Eye…and we went with the latter because it was more unknown). We also never did one on Looney Tunes: The Deluxe Edition from the beginning of this year even though we really wanted to! Scheduling has been tough and we still like to occasionally produce regular Odyssey podcasts…you know, our main mission! Yavar

From the press release of the 2-cd set: ' As a result, Intrada is able to present the complete score for the entire miniseries, including music not used, on this 2-CD set with crystal clear stereo sound. Everything is included, from largest powerhouse set-piece to smallest Roman fanfare. Each part plays as an individual program, introducing unique credit music and new material while working with ideas from previous parts, then concluding with familiar Masada end credits. ' So, are they separating out the unused stuff and upgrading the mix? It feels like it's a somewhat incremental upgrade, but so were Inchon, Poltergeist II, Young Sherlock Holmes and some others that I've tripple-dipped on too.

Why not wait until we at least get a tracklist to declare what sort of upgrade this is? I suspect it'll be more substantial than any of those. Yavar
