Hi. Thanks for asking, but I prefer to just write here on the board. By the way, i'm not a Rosenman expert, just a big fan. I'm not even a completist of his work.
I am sill hoping that we will see this documentary released, but maybe they will wait and release it next year when Lenny turns 100.
I am still very impressed by Leonard Rosenman score for CONVICTS 4 back from 1962, the movie starring Ben Gazzara.
This score was the exact crossing between Golden Age jazz rooted 50ies Hollywood music era and Silver Age avant-garde experimental 60ies music era. It than had absolutely everything.
I hope it gets a CD release someday. About time. Would have been a perfect project for FSM label btw, if it would still existed. Really miss it.
There is a nice 8 min suite of CONVICTS 4 (1962) here:
Thanks for the YouTube link. RM has posted some other interesting stuff.
Someone asked a few months ago when this Leonard Rosenman documentary will be released, The Film Music Foundation answered: "Hopefully very soon."
Let's hope that it'll be released in a few months in time for Lenny's 100th birthday, his centenary. I hope it's a long documentary, preferably at least 2 hours, and that it will cover a lot.
Film composer documentaries seem to be somewhat popular in recent years.
