Another website states ABC even wanted him fired after the pilot, but Aaron Spelling refused. And as for Herve, he apparently was the horny little guy portrayed in the series:

Well, that may be it for the original run, but while I am not doing more Fantasy Island right now, I will be returning to Fantasy Island at some point...
Since the new series is a continuation of the old one, with a the daughter of Mr. Roarke or some barely tangible excuse to cling on nostalgia, I called the final episode the "original series finale". Like I said -- I will not be covering the new series, though I will make a post about it at some point with details like the composer(s) used.
Well, I covered this series predominantly in the month of February, because of Valentine's Day -- so I considered it the month of love. But if like most people you didn't find love last month, then you'll have a broken heart and need to see a doctor this Monday at "Medical Center". And then the 17th, I toss in a little magic.

Usually I make comments under the final episode about remakes, spin-off's, etc., but I forgot, so without further ado:
There were no TV movies for the original series after it ended.
In 1998 a remake series that only last one season, tame out. IT was a darker take and starred Malcolm McDowell as Mr. Roarke. The show was scored by Roger Neill with an arrangement of Rosenthal's theme by John Ottman, who scored the pilot which proceeded the series. Ottman's score was released on a promo.
In 2002 McDowell returned as Mr. Roarke in a TV movie attempt to revive the short-lived remake series. I haven o idea who scored it and came up empty when looking.
In 2020 a dark remake film came out. Starring Michael Pena as Mr. Roarke, Matthew Margeson was hired to score it. For reasons I don't yet have the answers to, Bear McCreary ultimately scored the film.
In 2020 it was announced a continuation of the original series was goin to be made. Starring Roselyn Sanchez as the daughter of Mr. Roarke, it premiered in 2021 and already is set to premiere the second season this year. Utilizing Rosenthals theme once again, this continuation was scored by Genevieve Vincent. I have no clue Vincent will score the second season.
In 2015 a remake series was announced but never surfaced; I have no idea if a pilot was filmed or not:
