Roger says Not only is Last Starfighter coming back this week, but due to my travels next week we are announcing next week's release this Friday. Based on the reaction to Jumangi I imagine a sharp rise in complaints, so we can get those off everyone's chest early, ahead of the actual release. But this has been a grail release for some time, especially to get that Daedalus cue released. Similar to Monsignor, different mixes existed. So as with that release, one disc features the complete score from Armin Steiner's spectacular film mix, with a second disc featuring Len Engel's album mix we've all come to know and love. Finally it's all here produced under the love and care of Mike Matessino.
http://www.intrada.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8910 I’ll complain next week too, don’t worry. $31(?) for 40 seconds. Is that what we’re saying here?

I don't think the implication was that the whole score is the album outside one short cue. If it is.....then yeah, that's pretty ridiculous to include everything twice like that just for a slightly different mix. I could be wrong but that seems to be the implication.

Maybe in a couple years they can release the full score on one CD with these “mixes” combined into a 3-CD set to commemorate some pointless anniversary as a shameless money grab.

Yavar informed at JW fan that the complete score adds 8 minutes to what was on the album, which is not so little for a shorter score such as this one (17% more). This plus the different film mix seems a good reason to pick this one. Who said anything about “complete” from Intrada? The cover says expanded and that’s it. Roger, care to comment? Is it complete with the extra 8 minutes?

Is it complete with the extra 8 minutes? My bad. The labels do not use the “c” word anymore (as usually no release is complete, as they never include every take, etc. from the recording sessions). But with 8 minutes more and a breakdown by another fan mentioning that the 6 unreleased tracks totals aprox. this timing, I think we can assume that it will include all the Williams music used in the movie. I wouldn’t assume anything with Intrada or any of these labels.

It may not be on the cover but they still definitely advertise it in their descriptions, just look at Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid.

In fact Roger informs in the announcement that one disc includes the complete score. That’s fair. I’ll admit when I’m wrong but I would like Rodger to confirm just how long that is and how it compares to JWfan.

I, for one, am thrilled that Intrada is re-releasing this with the film mixes and missing cue. One of my favorite JW 80's scores.

It's a good John Williams score, and it's been OOP quite some time. It's easy to forget how hard some of the earlier releases were to get for those who missed out on them (I remember how happy everyone -- me included -- was when Intrada released Spacecamp for the first time, as the original soundtrack releases had been long OOP.).
