Between this release and the new Last Starfighter, LeHah, it sounds like it's been a particularly great week for you in terms of film music releases. I'm honestly very happy for you! Yavar

For some reason, the score never particularly clicked with me when I picked up Intrada's first release. I have dim and not positive memories of the film which I saw when it got to the video store where I worked. And the score just felt like another "John Williams in eighties heroic mode." Hearing the score on its own didn't change my mind, so I never listened to it much. But I must say the until-now unavailable Daedalus cue has certainly caught my ear, and listening through to the prior release, I just couldn't hold back. I ordered it with the soon-to-come-to-Intrada Seconds, another score I've not been as fond of as many here, though my Goldsmith fanaticism generally spans all decades and genres (except maybe comedy). So very much looking forward to re-experiencing this one, and the other too. Also, have to say I enjoy this heroic eighties idiom more than I did for a few years there. With age comes wisdom, or a longing for nostalgia, or some other third thing.

Well, since they released it twice, I posted twice, sue me!

I am ecstatic about this release! We have been so spoiled with the relatively recent definitive treatments of ALWAYS, FAR AND AWAY, and THE RIVER, and this is another perpetual favorite of mine that I know will benefit from Mike's magic touch.

Enormously excited for this! I never saw the film when I was young, so I didn't know the score for many years. I didn't discover it until around 2000, when I started collecting every Williams album out there, in addition to the obvious ones I already had, like the Star Wars films and the Indiana Jones films. This score absolutely blew me away! I love that, for the last few years, Intrada has been pairing complete CDs of the scores with a second CD with the remastered commercial album! I cannot wait for my copy of this to ship!!!

Note for Doug Fake and Roger Feigelson and Jeff Johnson: There are far more of us who appreciate you than who don't. Please continue posting here and letting us know your honest thoughts about your product!! I would say in film music circles, the people who do not appreciate Douglass Fake, Roger Feigelson or Jeff Johnson should be far and in between. You always get a few people who have to badmouth just about anything, anyone, and any release, but the majority of the people posting here I'm sure have high regards for Intrada and its staff. I have bought their releases since 1987 and ordered from their site since, I don't know, late 1990s... and from products to service, everything was always exemplary.

You're really got to see the film if you haven't, to properly appreciate how incredible that score is. If you don't want to go the Criterion Collection route, Paramount+ has it up for streaming (and they offer free trials)... Yavar

Really looking forward to getting my hands on this new release. After you announced it, I realized that I haven't seen this film since probably the DVD release many years ago and watched it again. A fun and enjoyable film, and an incredible score. Thank you again for releasing it! I have the original 2010 CD and did not hesitate to get this new one.

A classic Williams score like this should always be in print, so I'm thrilled Intrada is bringing it back! The addition of a second disc of the actual film score, and the remastered album, just makes this like Christmas.

Love Frankenheimer in the 60's, even Grand Prix, for heaven's sake. But the movie doesn't do it for me either, go figure. I could go on but I won't, because.... That's not important right now - this is Spacecamp's moment in the sun!

Different strokes for different folks, I guess! It's my favorite Frankenheimer... a real gut punch when I saw it for the first time, in theater. That's not important right now - this is Spacecamp's moment in the sun! Indeed! Yavar

I would be particularly excited for the first or last on your list. A complete Conrack too, but alas I think FSM released all of the stuff that survived as music only, because the (far more recent) Twilight Time Blu-ray release had an isolated score track produced by Mike Mattesino, and a lot of that was sadly music & effects because it's all he could find. Exciting to imagine that this great SpaceCamp release will soon be joined by another expanded Williams though! Yavar

Nice one Kev. I've actually managed to read an entire thread with a smile on my face, and all for good reason! Very happy for this release. Looking forward to placing my order.
