Setting up a store in Brexit-UK was the stupidest idea anyway !

What makes you think that?

The EU will collapse anyway.

I'd say it was rather good judgment to choose someone in the UK.
But it was not the best of choice the company they finally went with as we now learned.

This will certainly impact my purchases by at least 75%...it has got way to expensive to import them from the US...

Good in a way that the number of CD releases are dropping.

Shame the US labels can’t do something with UK based Tadlow or Silva Screen to market their titles in the UK and Europe.

Yes I am sure the US labels, and the rest, CAN combine forces and deal with this situation.

Yes that goes for me too.
However it does give time to look into my collection and start listening to some of the music that has been neglected for too long.

Sad this is happening but still excited to see what VSD has in store for the rest of the year.

Well it was nice while it lasted. Looks like I've purchased my last Varese cd for awhile.

This is some year. Maybe the days of me buying soundtracks are over. For a global marketplace it's looking rather restrictive.

Same for me sadly.

This is sad news, but not entirely a surprise given events in the world at the moment, even if they're not directly to blame. Hopefully some other way of getting U.S. releases to U.K. and European buyers without having to ship directly out of the U.S. can be found. Digitial downloads are all well and good, and I use them occasionally, but most times I'd rather have a CD.

I'm not aware of energy costs being affected by the recent heatwaves. Certainly they will be by Russia cutting off its oil pipelines...

Me neither. First I've heard of it...

Most people and businesses in the US and Europe, due to the heat waves on both continents.

I can't tell if these posts are meant as jokes, but people and businesses are running their air conditioners a LOT more, due to the heat waves, resulting in higher bills for them to pay.

Granted, it's probably less of an issue in Europe since, in my experience, few places in Europe seem to have air conditioning. But it's definitely a HUGE issue in the US.

In some countries every prices went up when demand rose. Also the use of electricity has risen during the heat wave. Especially (older) offices had to use airconditioners to have the temperature acceptable. It got to 45 degrees C in my office, I couldn't have worked there without my airconditioning. Fortunately I'm on a fixed price contract.

On topic: I really hope for an (more sensible) alternative within the European community. Shipping is ridiculous nowadays.

Energy costs have gone up. My electric company added a $10 a month surcharge. That's on top of my all ready high energy bill because I have to run the AC more than usual because its so hot.

Honestly, as much as this is a controversial take here and I enjoy the satisfying feeling of holding a CD in my hands. This is why I support digital downloads. We can get really good quality downloads with zero shipping costs. The manufacturing costs of getting the music to us would be lower too, I would imagine. We'd also get the music instantly and be able to transfer it to any platform we prefer.

Digital downloads remove the financial barriers currently being imposed on international buyers.

The only downside is booklet notes/credits. If they gave us a digital booklet with every release (not difficult if they put some effort in!) then downloads would match and potentially exceed CD distributon.

Right. Just make digital booklets and notes. Again, I understand the affinity for the physical CD. But the fact of the matter is a majority of people on this planet no longer use CDs for their music. Digital is the future and I don't see a problem with that at all. It would solve a lot of issues. Do you know what else it would mostly solve? Things going out of print. Missing out on releases and wishing you had bought them but now have to buy them on the secondary market for over 100 dollars when they were originally 24 dollars. If LLL's Point Break by Mark Isham had still been available at a reasonable price on the main market I would have purchased it from them.
