So wait, Interscope's pending CD release is for the songs from the film, not the score? It appears that ArkSquare's release is the same, but in a paper sleeve. So is there a pending CD release of Guðnadóttir's score that we know about?

I was trying to figure that out. The tracklist is blurred out on Amazon so I can't tell if they are song titles or score track titles.
Why is this film in talks for a Best Picture Oscar nomination, it currently has a 62% on Rotten Tomatoes?
Slow Oscar year?
it has been slow for many years with very few quality films being made Movies such as Joker 1 and 2 often being given 5 star reviews by the critics because there is nothing else for them to to write about. Good movies are still being made by the Independent film producers and often go straight to bluray and not talked about so when Oscar time arrives they are either ignored or forgotten. A film such as The Joker would never ever have been Oscar nominated say for example in the 1970's for all the obvious reasons.

Saw the film last night. What a disappointment. I absolutely loved the first Joker, but this one just turned out to be frustrating and unnecessary. I loved nearly every scene starring Phoenix as either Arthur or Joker, and thought Gaga did well as Harley. And what many have heard and read is correct: this does have heavy elements of a “musical,” for sure. There were probably around 15 songs that were sung, all as part of Arthur’s/Joker’s delusions, and at first I didn’t mind their inclusion. But it became so frequent in the latter half of the movie that it just annoyed the hell out of me and killed the whole experience.
However, Guðnadóttir‘s score, when it did make an appearance (more scant than in the first film, I guess not surprisingly), was excellent. I got the distinct sense that her music this time around was intentionally developed further from the first movie’s - it’s more dark, bleak, foreboding, and in some cases more driving, more inciting, more enveloping. It’s really too bad there appears to be no CD planned for the score, because it was definitely the highlight of the second film.
My old jaded self is not surprised that the score is digital, whereas the soundtrack (the musical/sung songs from both Phoenix and Gaga) is on CD. I think I also read that Gaga is releasing a companion album of her own. Jeez.

Dang, sorry to hear the film is no good…
Good news is that the score is being released on CD:
We saw the film this evening and I’m struggling to think of anything that stops it from being a 10/10 film. It was, simply put, stunning. I’m still collecting my thoughts and will probably expand on this in the “rate the movie” thread, but the score was note-perfect. The songs were thoroughly justified even though I wouldn’t personally buy the song-related CD (out of context they’re not my cup of tea).
Anyone who’s seen it and tries to tell you it’s a musical, you can tell them from me they’re an idiot . It’s like saying that Kill Bill or Natural Born Killers are musicals. Iosher22 only said “elements of musicals” so that doesn’t count.
Best new film, and best use of score, I’ve seen in ages.
