Firstly, there are not 100s of fans of 80s scores by Sarde on this board. I don´t know why you come up with such a strange idea? People only come along when a really popular US score by Sarde like GHOST STORY will be released, but - with maybe one or two exceptions - not when it is only about his French scores from that period. So you can forget about "100s of fans." At least they are not on this board. Indeed Stefan...probably only because his main body of work has been composed for french cinema. His best scores may actually have been written for Claude Sautet, Pierre-Granier-Deferre, Yves Boisset, Georges Lautner and of course Bertrand Tavernier. So maybe there are not hundreds of Philippe Sarde fans scrolling around HERE on FSM board, because they are just mainly elsewhere! May I remind the Philippe Sarde facebook fan group page which is DAILY updated by my friend Philippe Braud who runs it in France for several years now? It's all written in french all right...but it's the ultimate place on the web to follow anything regarding Philippe Sarde. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1139522013047960 And this fan group has a huge 1400+ members fanbase figure now, which is even much more than the usual 500 or 1000 limited Philippe Sarde CD release production figure. So my guess is that most of Philippe Sarde fans are....in Europe located with his films scores mostly discussed and documented in french language. On my side, I am a Sarde completist (at least on CD) and he certainly is part of my top 5 world film composers list, no question. He is a total genius, probably the best french film composer ever. Great classical education, huge talent, very clever in his orchestrations, very demanding about orchestra performance (he did dozens of sessions with the LSO in London), often accompanied by the best solosit of the world in their field (Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Ron Carter...) Totally committed to any new film project he was involved in for 50 years plus...

I know that Sarde Facebook fan group and it is great - no question about it. But if you have a look there, only French members are posting anything in French language and it is for the most part Philippe Braud who entertains and incites the people every day in an enthusiastic way. I see almost no foreign collectors posting there anything. Therefore it is a pity that in English language not much seems to be possible anymore regarding Sarde for example here on this FSM board as always only the same few people (including me) will respond for example to a new CD release with one or two of his French scores (of course a release of a popular US title is a quite different matter). It is obvious to me that within France there must still be many fans of the composer, but how many are there outside of France nowadays and who will write at least one or two sentences on a board?
