Yeah, that's the big one for me. That this score didn't get an album at the time of the movie's release is absolutely bizarre. The first score won Goldsmith his Oscar, and this was the last entry in the series, and a phenomenal score at that.

The Comancheros - Elmer Bernstein Rio Conchos - Jerry Goldsmith The Magnificent Seven - Elmer Bernstein The Curse Of Frankenstein/Dracula - James Bernard (at last a great Tadlow recording) Jason & The Argonauts - Bernard Herrmann (great Intrada recording) El Condor - Maurice Jarre. I always liked this Jarre score, but no album, & then Universal Music France released it on CD on a double-bill with Villa Rides.
Start The Revolution Without Me (1970) - John Addison, I loved this score, but no soundtrack LP...& it'll never happen, as it seems the tapes are missing. Valdez Is Coming (1971) - Charles Gross - ditto.
The Secret of NIMH- It was supposed to come out on LP and Cassette. I couldn't find it on LP until a year after the films release and on CD sometime after that. It was never released on Cassette.
A HIGH WIND IN JAMAICA GREAT CATHERINE THE COUNTERFEIT TRAITOR (not for years) Disney’s PETER PAN (not released for years) Disney’s ALICE IN WONDERLAND (see above) SONG OF THE SOUTH (never on CD) SO DEAR TO MY HEART THE SWORD IN THE STONE SOUTH PACIFIC underscore CAMELOT underscore
When I saw the film in the theatre during its first run, the gorgeous score swept over me. It wasn't until years later when I spied the Intrada re-recording conducted by the composer. And, of course, the original tracks were released much later by FSM.
There were of course a number of films I first saw on TV whose soundtracks I looked and longed for, but which weren't released many years later, such as LAWMAN and SCORPIO and WIZARDS.
But films where I wanted the soundtrack when they were originally released but which we're released until many years later include:
GREMLINS EXPLORERS GHOSTBUSTERS INNERSPACE They all had soundtrack releases so truncated, I considered them basically "unreleased" until FSM and Intrada and Varèse released their sets. I didn't even bother to pick up some of the original soundtrack releaes as I found them seriously lacking from the outset.
Then there were films where I really wanted the music with no original soundtrack release at all. I even searched for many of these, as back it was very difficult to even find out if something had been released. WOLFEN 48 HRS. BLADE RUNNER UNCOMMON VALOR SPACEHUNTER: ADVENTURES IN THE FORBIDDEN ZONE *BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED WARLOCK (That one actually had a soundtrack release, but I was unable to find it anywhere back in the day, so I assumed it had none. THE 'BURBS
I got tired of waiting for Blade Runner and a few years back reconstructed my own version of the soundtrack as it appears in the film. All the cues are here:
Child's Play 2 (thank heavens we finally have it!) Child's Play 3 Ken Russell's The Devils
But CP3 is still not released?
Exactly, which is why I listed that and The Devils. Sorry, I thought this thread was just about soundtracks we never got. Was this supposed to be about soundtracks that were delayed?
