Bummed the series is LP only (I asked, no CDs). frown

Whomever you asked, please ask if this really original music-only, or excerpts from the movie audio. It doesn't matter what medium it's in if it's not the real deal.

info@waxworkrecords.com

So you don't care what the audio is, only if it's on cd, lol.

Well since you're too lazy to contact them yourself, I did half the work for you. You're welcome.

What work was that? Noone asked if there would be a cd release.

Providing their email address so you could get the answer to your question. Since I only buy CDs and it's only being released on vinyl, I don't give a flute what content is included, but you do, so go ask them yourself. Comprende?

No. You're disappointed there won't be a CD release, but you also don't care what's in the release?
And I saw their email address on their webpage since I'm the only one here who provided a link to the release. I didn't know who you contacted, but since many labels or companies don't reply, I thought it would more efficient if you asked whomever, and then posted back here for the benefit of everyone...since that's what everyone wants to know.

You must have a huge collection of cds if you don't care what's on them.

I did some research.

Most of the music used in the film is from library and mostly classical by Liszt, they were newly recorded. A handful of tracks (at least two) were composed for the film, including Guy Bevier’s opening chant.

Yes, it's nice to see unhelpful whiners sticking up for each other.

"The food stinks here."
"Yeah and such small portions too."

Since I never heard from Waxwork, as expected, I appreciate you doing the research and informing us.

For those unfriendlys who don't actually care about the music contents, just skip this message or better yet, put me on your ignore list.

I heard from the fellow credited for mixing and mastering the album (whom I emailed directly, not thru Waxwork), and he said this was the complete movie audio. Same for a pending release of another title.

Gary Rhodes wrote a book on White Zombie and he talks about the music. It states Abe Meyer was in charge of assembling the music. He owned Meyer Synchronizing Service. He used passages of Limoges, section of Mussorgsky’s Pictures in an Exhibition, Gaston Borsch’s Incidental Symphonies, Hugo Riesenfeld’s Death of the Great Chief, Borch’s Agitato. Meyer and Riesenfeld were friends and he was well known for background scores for silent films. Wagner, Liszt and Xavier Cugat, H. Maurice Jancquet, Leo Kempenski, Hen Herkan also were used. The chant was written by Guy Bevier Williams heard in the first scene. R. Nathaniel Dey’s “ Listen to the Lambs” with lyrics replaced by chants. Newspapers at the time had articles “Weird Music in White Zombie” but they weren’t accurate. I might have missed a composer but I don’t think so.

So I was right, Your Snootiness.

Offer accepted, enjoy your full movie audio album.

The orchestral music that kicks in during the last section of the film seems to be all silent photoplay music. I recognized Agitato Pathetique by Borch, Agitato No. 49 by Shepherd, S.O.S.and In the Depths both by Nem Herken. In the late 'twenties many of these cues were recorded by RCA, Columbia, Gennett, and others for what was presumed would be a huge need for music in talking pictures (we see how that turned out). RCA originally marketed their library for projectionists to play from the booth, eliminating the need for live musical accompaniment to silents. Many of these discs still survive. The musical parts for the above cues survive in various libraries so it could be re-recorded.
