JFK (John Williams)

...by La la Land or Intrada. Any John Williams in need of expansion or remastering would be welcome, but I mention that one in particular because it was announced/mentioned as "upcoming" years ago, but still hasn't seen the light of day.

At any rate, the existing CD sounds quite murky, even by 1991 standards...

Yeah, I recall 2017 being mentioned as the year it was coming out. We never got word on why there was a massive hold-up (licensing, approvals, trouble with Warner Bros., etc.). And this one hurt most of all because JFK just happens to be my favorite all-time Williams score.

There's still a couple of LPs that I'd like:

Elmer Bernstein - Where's Jack? (1969)
Alfred Newman - Nevada Smith (1966)
John Addison - Smashing Time (1967)
Riz Ortolani - The Yellow Rolls Royce (1964)
Riz Ortolani - The Spy With A Cold Nose (1966)
Francis Lai - Hello- Goodbye (1970)
Francis Lai - Le Petit Poucet (1972)
Ennio Morricone - 5 Man Army (1969) - a long shot, but do stereo album masters exist? It surely must have been recorded in stereo.

Could this be the year when I don't by any new soundtrack releases - I think that every year...& then (late in the year) comes along a release I want.

...& what happened to the Universal series of original score releases, it seems to have petered out.

Obviously no expansions of any kind, but a premiere release of completely unreleased scores by Williams, Elfman, Goldenthal and possibly Horner would be most welcome. Also Faltermeyer’s Top Gun and Fletch. And some other bits and bobs.

Will The Outlaw Josey Wales will ever get sorted out?

I wonder if the days of music tapes being discovered (usually in a record company) are over, like Hugo Friedhofer's, One-Eyed Jacks (Kritzerland) & Dimitri Tiomkin's, 55 Days At Peking (La-La Land).

Hello Goodbye and Le Petit Poucet were released by Playtime Records. The former is vinyl sourced. I'm not sure what that means. Maybe the tapes are located outside of France and they couldn't or didn't want to use them. Same for The Games (1970).

I'm happy with the FSM CD release of 5 Man Army.

Death Wish by Herbie Hancock was mentioned. The original album is on a mammoth box set containing all of Hancock's Columbia recordings, quite a span of years and styles, a wonderful composer and incredible piano player.
