I am so beyond thrilled for this release!

This score is a delight for horror film score fans, and fans of Horner alike, and given I've already played the 'Rip Off Mob' game and learned to enjoy it for what it is, not for who it isn't, it's a real blessing to finally receive the score in package. I inherited the boot, and was always bummed when so many great cues weren't present.

Thanks again to Intrada for polishing another gem for us.

Actually, the Goldsmith temp track apes aside, there is some seriously gorgeous and inventive music from James Horner to be had here.
That Main Title is so lovely and wistful.
This early years period from Horner (1980-1989) is still my favourite by him.
His voice was so ready, but raw.

I couldn't agree more! He showed he had real promise. Other than ripping off the OMEN chants, the score is a symphonic soundscape of themes both gorgeous and unsettling, with some great action cues, tender love variations, jarring dissonance and creepiness. And for a film of it's type, it was a truly epic win for the film.

And the film sported a unique poster!

I hope John Beal's awesome trailer cue is included. Very in his 'Terror In The Aisles' vein.

Maybe Battle Beyond the Stars could now make an appearance.

I remember I had that old WOLFEN/DEADLY BLESSING bootleg back in the day. Don't have it anymore, but I seem to remember some interesting percussive textures. Cool release!

Tubi has the movie for free (probably with ads) legally. Might be U.S. restricted for all I know.

UK Amazon has it on Prime (with ads). I presume the film's complete there. (when it came out in the UK, the distributor removed the final scene.)

Obligatory Goldsmith joke: At least Horner scored a movie with Sharon Stone, before Goldsmith did...

Can't listen YouTube samples right now, so is it really "bad" (I mean - sounds too close to Goldsmith's Omen, as I understand due this conversation)?

Maybe she had influence and asked Goldsmth for something that sounded like Horner. Now there's a thoughtsmile

The one thing I never understood in DEADLY BLESSING (not that the rest makes sense) is that the villagers are concerned about one of the young women being the "incubus," while I thought an incubus was always a male demon (succubus being the female equivalent).

The Devil's Rain definitively proved you shouldn't expect logic in a horror movie where the community's leader is Ernest Borgnine.

-----------------------------------
No, not at all.
It's probably 90% true, early style Horner, with a few action scenes riffing on The Dog's Attack and some of the chanting from OMEN.
If you like Horner (especially his 80s stuff), it's a MUST BUY!!

I can't believe we are getting "NEW" Horner!

I am ABSOLUTELY getting this as soon as I can!

And Nightbreed after that!!

Yeah, the last movie of Maren Jenson and the first actual credited role (with dialog) for Sharon Stone.

Very much looking forward to this score.

It was also the last film featuring Susan Buckner (Patty Simcox in 'Grease) who'd been gaining speed in Hollywood around that time. She became a mother following the film and sadly never continued her blooming career. She was really talented and (I can speak from personal experience!) a fun person all around. She has some interesting stories from the set, such as recalling the day John Lennon was shot - they were filming and Wes became very somber and withdrawn, only to make sure the scenes were shot.

I watched the film. I may have stopped paying attention at some point (it doesn't have a strong middle) because story-wise I was left nonplussed, but it was more together in other departments than I expected for Craven's second feature. Highlight for me was the Susan Buckner performance, even though her romance wasn't really earned in the movie, but hey, it's a trash horror.

I'm not sure yet if I'll go for the cd, I'm not a completist collector, I've sold on many scores I don't actively listen to, and the question is whether I'll actually reach for this instead of Wolfen. I'll have to wait for samples to decide.

So this title SHOULD be available to buy in the next 24 hours or next week?

Intrada usually releases on Tuesdays, so I guess it'll be tomorrow.
