City Hall was for me was one of the best from Goldsmith in the 90s, my least favourite decade for his work. I haven’t listened to it in a while so need to rectify that.

Looking forward to having this complete finally. Going to pair nicely with LA Confidential both complete in a playlist.

Bravo to Varese! Both club CDs arrived safely in the Uk this morning. Looking forward to getting stuck into them. Considerably earlier than promised - thank you Varese!

Both titles arrived today.

Limited Edition of 2,000 each - if that hasn't been solved.

We worked on this one awhile ago, so I had to refresh my memory. They recorded three versions of "The Bridge." Two of them wound up on the OST, but the third version which was used in the film, wasn't one of them.

Neil, do you remember where are the two The Bridges on the OST? I can guess where one is, of course, but there are a couple of options for possible versions 2.

No worries if it was all too long ago.

Just listening to it, no, I don't. Do you have a specific spot, or is it throughout for you?

The last 3:33 of "Count On It" on the OST.

Right at the beginning.

I received the disc. I too have the crackling problem, only it's much worse on my disc. The first dozen tracks are entirely unplayable. Upon examination, there is a visible defect on the information layer in the center of the disc. It's as if the information layer was not properly pressed to the disc portion. I've tried playing it on multiple players and the problems are present when I try to rip the music to mp3 as well. Sad. I haven't run across anything like this in over 30 years of CD buying. I fear its another sign of the lack of CD pressing plants.

I contacted Varese about it. They told me to submit a claim with Concord Music with a picture of the defect. Hopefully I can get a replacement. I was wondering if anyone else was going to have the same problem....

I managed to listen to the album tracks, which I had never heard before. The score is really great. I connected with it instantly. It's both familiar and comforting as a longtime Goldsmith fan. I really enjoy "Count on It". The way the music sustains and then quietly releases is fascinating. I hadn't heard anything quite like it from Goldsmith.

The movie's pretty decent too. I managed to find it on Youtube. I miss these kinds of films from the 90's. Pacino is spot on. I can't imagine Robert Redford in that role.

Something here too.

Track 1

Listened to the back half first with no problems.

I received my copy today, and the first several tracks will not play without constant skipping. There is indeed a visible defect emanating from the inner ring. There was clearly a misprinted batch of CDs.

I have filled out a Damaged Item web-form with Concord Music and attached a photo of the defect. I received an automated email telling me to expect a response within 3 to 5 business days. Fingers crossed!

In case anyone else has a defective copy, here is the form I used:

This one looks normal.

Thanks, Neil. That's great to know.

Christ....

Why we should all wait....or not, "thanks", to restocking, repressing....to purchase.

I miss the early 00-10 boom of abundant, unflawed scores that quickly sold out....yet bloody played correctly without this nonsense.

Wanting to hear this, glad I waited until Varese has enough product of interest to package together. Way to sell & QC the hard work of Mssrs, Mattessino & Bulk, guys....

I’m curious, Neil — are there any other “hidden” cues like that on the original album program?

What does the defect look like?

When you hold the iridescent lower surface of the disc up to the light, there is a sort of "wavy blob" arc emanating from the inner ring, almost like a spreading stain.
