Yes, the album is out now, available on CD, vinyl, digital download and streaming from all the usual suspects - and even as high-res downloads from stores that sell that format. Agreed that it sounds terrific!

If you're interested more about the album's background, how the music masters were found, what work was done to create the album, and so forth, you might want to check out these podcasts with Jason and Sean Mendelson (producers of the album, and sons of Lee Mendelson):

Adding my praise to mstrox's appraisal... Man, this album is gorgeous. Full rich sound, great presence, and so much fun. I have never heard so much detail in this music, I guess because Guaraldi's work takes a bit of a backseat to the comedic character interactions in the TV show sound mix. Very highly recommended.

It's a very enjoyable CD and I'm glad it has been released. I do wish all the "One, Two...One, Two, Three, Four" words could have been edited out of so many of the tracks. smile

So did they use a different take of Little Birdie than was used in the film? The lower brass of the trombones is almost inaudible. Makes the melody of the brass statement sound entirely different.

Compare to this leak from last year.

What exactly is that? Is it a human voice counting "one, two..."? That would be really annoying. Is there a sample of that on youtube that I could hear? Thanks.

The voice is mostly composer Vince Guaraldi on the piano mic, as it was on the TV broadcast. Here's album producer Jason Mendelson, son of animation producer Lee Mendelson, discussing this along with his brother and co-producer Sean in an interview with podcaster Heath Holland:

Personally, I find the laid-back, in-the-moment vibe of this release to be part of the album's charm, as it's like being in the room or in a jazz club with Guaraldi and his quartet.

You're both right, but yeah, they should have omitted the slates on the soundtrack cues. There were plenty of bonus cues with the slates for that "live" vibe.

Perhaps, but I’m just so grateful to finally have this wonderful music on a CD!:-)

It’s interesting - I didn’t even notice the count-offs at all (besides the one that opens the album) until I saw this post. Now it’s very evident to me - on maybe half the tracks in the main program. Doesn’t bug me - gives it the kind of feel of a performance. There is one very short track that has it, followed immediately by another - I can see that bugging somebody if they’re open to being bugged.

Loving listening to this! Great to have this music in such a pristine quality, and the interesting alternates!
