This album is a wonderful summation of Rosenthal's work in both film and TV, expertly performed and sequenced. Funny enough, during the Summer I crafted my own "best of" Rosenthal compilation and it's remarkably similar to this, even down to the suites I assembled using the original score cues in GarageBand!
The only downside is I wish that the "To The House of Pain" cue from his DR MOREAU score had been included, I would love to hear a new performance of that. It's my 2nd favorite score of his after CLASH OF THE TITANS. Rosenthal is really underrated when it comes to crafting marvelous melodies.
This is an ABSOLUTE BELTER of a compilation CD for this tremendous film composer. Covering a great range of emotions and styles, anyone who doesn't know how great this fella is needs to own this CD immediately. The Suites and Themes are impressive and the performance is top notch. I already had a lot of the stuff represented here in its original format, but these new renditions are fantastic nonetheless. And the items making their premiere are cool too (including a short piece from CLASH OF THE TITANS not available on any previous releases). As a sampler, it's second to none.
