Absolutely amazing!!!! Will the super deluxe $100 edition be widely available from retailers like Amazon? Or is it limited and safer to pre-order it right now from Craft's website? I don't think the SDE is limited and I expect it will be on all major outlets. Big difference coming from a major label (with resources to hire a PR film). It's kind of overwhelming to see.

I take it that the SDE comes in an LP-sized box, correct? How are the CDs/BR housed within? I haven't held it physically yet, but it's a coffee-table type hardcover book with pockets for the discs inside the covers. Something in the neighborhood of 9" x 20" from the looks of it. And in between something like 30,000 words of my ramblings.

Oddly enough this is not a Disney/20th title in terms of music rights. They have a distribution partnership on the movie, so they were involved in reviewing copy & providing photos, but Robert Wise shares copyright on the movie and I represented that side of it on the project. It's all owned by Rodgers & Hammerstein, which was acquired by Concord in 2017 when they bought Imagem. The RCA Victor/Sony Music rights needed to expire and revert to R&H on January 1, 2021 in order to make it possible for me to merge album master material with studio scoring elements, which of course I was in the ideal position to do and be a one-stop shop for the whole thing. Have the feature film distribution rights also reverted to R&H? Is that something you're able to address? The movie was removed from Disney+ and all streaming services a few months back, and the Blu-Rays and DVDs seem to be out of print now.

When we visited Austria (St Wolfgang...one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to) there was a channel on the TV in the hotel room and it just showed the film on repeat all day and night. We visited Salzburg twice during our stay and did most of the movie sites and locations. Fun memories. I did a "Sound of Music" package tour with my German class when we went to Europe years ago. We saw a bunch of the locations too, the film does a masterful job of showing off the glorious sights of Salzburg!

A magnificent set to be sure, for one of my favorite movie musicals of all time. Currently torn between the Deluxe Edition and the regular version with the complete score (I take it Dixit Dominus is the full version found on the Gold CD rather than the abbreviated version used in the film and OST). Not to be that person, but I wonder if it’s possible if the other R&H films with surviving tapes could get similar treatment (I’ve read that the tapes for Oklahoma! are lost, and Mike mentioned elsewhere that South Pacific was MIA).

It always reverts to R&H periodically, and has done so since 1977. It requires renegotiation each time and over the years there was a good cooperative built between them and 20th. We're just in one of those moments right now but it will be hashed out as it always is.

Does this set include the songs with the vocals removed? E.g., do we get Climb Every Mountain with only the music? It does include them on the Super Deluxe CD & digital.

You've got some albums on Capitol, so those would have to be a UMG/Concord/Disney cooperative. Not impossible, but more challenging.
