I tried to access the sample pages, but only received one of two e-mails I was supposed to receive to set up an account. An e-mail to the author has gone unanswered. Oh, well.

98% of the first 500 registrations went well. So you're unlucky. I'm sorry.
I've replied to all the messages I've received. But every time I write to you I get an error message.
I've just resent the e-mail to set your password. Please check your spam folder.

I was chuffed to see the sample page re: Brainstorm but then hugely frustrated wanting to read the rest, lol. Brainstorm is my first and favourite Horner score so I cannot wait to hold that first volume in my hands and read the rest. And it goes all the way through to Field of Dreams by the looks of it. Wow. Cannot. Wait.

I've had exactly the same problem and nothing in Spam.

Any updates on when this book will become available? Best!

Thank you Juanki for your interest.

Volume 1 is ready so I hope to launch the start of pre-orders during the spring of 2024. Printing will take place immediately afterwards and shipping will follow.

For your information, the book will be printed in France and the USA, so this will limit shipping costs. Because if I send it from France, that's $40-50 in shipping costs for people on the American continent.
EDIT: I didn't manage to complete the printing project in the USA (administratively, logistically and financially it was too complicated).

I'll be launching pre-orders once I've obtained the final authorizations for the images. This can be a very long process, as some requests were made 10 months ago.

In particular, I'm waiting for authorization from a major studio that has asked to read the book chapter. The chapter was sent in September. And I'm still waiting...

In the meantime, you'll soon be able to read a small part of my work in the recent edition of The Lady in Red, as I co-wrote the liner notes.

Fantastic news! We're currently in a boon of film composer biographies!

Fantastic news! We're currently in a boon of film composer biographies!

Indeed great news. Glad to see people like Goldsmith, Williams, and Horner getting high accolades right now. Film music has become such shapeless noise that I think the traditional composers are being highly re-evaluated as having works that belong in the concert halls. The live score-to-screen trend has really helped that along, too.

Up for pre order volume one. Unfortunately it's £85 plus shipping. No sale here, that's beyond my reach.

Hmm… four volumes at £85 + shipping each certainly will set Horner fans back a pretty penny. I suspect the book will be well worth it though. Just unfortunate for those for whom it’s out of their price range.

I know folks are still impatiently waiting for The Jerry Goldsmith Companion (in two volumes) print editions, but it does seem like the base tier to get both volumes of that was rather more of a bargain in comparison. So I can understand if some Horner fans are frustrated.

Myself, I’ll be asking for this as an anniversary present, and probably/hopefully the second volume as a Christmas present…

Yavar

The price made my eyes water but you have to remember the sheer amount of time and research JB single-handedly put into this labor of love for something that ultimately is a niche product.

The excerpt combined with his excellent liner notes for Lady in Red convinced me to go for it. And I for one can’t wait.

Oomph that's not a good price! Especially when running simultaneously with a Horner kickstarter campaign!

The phrase "taking the piss" springs to mind.

My ususal question: Any chance for an epub version? I simply find it so much more convenient...

Really hoping for a book project like that on Zimmer too.
