This was the 1st Elfman score I bought when I was a teenager. Still my favorite. So stoked to be getting more music from this particular "world". Intrada, you continue to amaze. Thank you!

My first impression of the score back then was „great main theme but excessively busy underscore, like many Elfmans almost the equivalent of having a legion of goblins banging away on a multitude of instruments while singing LALALALALALALA!“ Years later I gave the score another chance and suddenly appreciated the intricate intelligence and the atmospheric beauty of it. Now I am looking forward to hearing even more of this fabulous score!

No sound samples. Makes it hard to decide whether to invest or not. If it's like other recent Intrada releases, it'll be available digitally/streaming so you can have all the samples you need up to the whole thing. Thanks for the info. Upon reflection, I'm going to wait until the CD arrives. It will be like in the good old days before the Internet. Lovely surprises await Im sure.

Is there a good place to listen to samples of what this score sounds like since there aren't any on Intrada's website? I'm interested, but want to hear a little of the score first.

Give http://www.youtube.com a shot! I get that but I'll be really bummed if, between this and LADY IN RED, Intrada is doing away with samples. I don't disagree. It seems so arbitrary to not have them and to make people seek out random or illegal streaming sites.

I get that but I'll be really bummed if, between this and LADY IN RED, Intrada is doing away with samples. One issue that arises frequently here has been people judging the audio quality of the release based on low-to-mid quality samples intended only to give buyers an idea of what the music is like. Several individuals went so far as to initiate deranged tirades against Intrada on this very forum based on audio samples. Frankly, it's not worth it. The (excellent) music from NIGHTBREED has been widely available for more than 30 years and it's on YouTube. If some still don't know what it sounds like no one can really help at this point. Not putting up samples because of a handful of cranks. Doubtful. I'm confident that Intrada has good reasons for not doing so. Perhaps, someone from Intrada could enlighten us... as long as it doesn't take away from valuable producing time.

I received my copy last week and have been repeatedly listening to this. NIGHTBREED has been an Elfman favourite of mine, perhaps top 10. I'd drifted away from Danny after his bout of bad press, and this was exactly what I needed to remind myself why I purchased and obsessed over the 1990 MCA album, geez, 30 years ago. Great addition of unreleased material. The sound is excellent across the board, and another entry from Shirley Walker (hints of THE FLASH and even ESCAPE FROM L.A. in "Berserker's Party") in my collection. NIGHTBREED, DICK TRACY and EDWARD SCISSORHANDS—what a time to be alive and a fan of Danny's film music. Thanks to Intrada for expanding all of these. ARTICLE 99 and SOMMERSBY are next, right?
