You're speaking my language, Ostinato, and at the risk of veering even further off topic, today I received Cinema-kan's CD release of Kosuke Onozaki's score for the 1969 sci-fi/adventure anime film The Flying Phantom Ship.

I'm not a big anime fan per se but was intrigued by the film's plotline and aesthetic and the samples of the score that I gleaned from watching snippets of the movie on youtube, so I bought the CD (from amazon japan via amazon.com) and hoped my indulgence would be rewarded. Spinning now and can confirm that it was, indeed, a winning bet!

I'm glad I'm speaking your language. No worries about the topic. Think of it this way, we're all still primarily talking about Cinema-kan. Besides, I love the chance to talk about Japanese film music.

I remember seeing that one! The score is great, and is another I've been needing to pick up.

By the way, pick up Katsuhisa Hattori's "Lady with Seven Faces" if you don't have it. I fell in love with that one upon listening to the samples and bought it as quickly as I could. I love the hell out of that score to this day.

Oh heck yeah! Groovy stuff, and right up my alley. Thanks for the recommendation. It will be mine.
