I've never been very good at articulating why I enjoy music, suffice to say I've listened to this twice today and enjoy it very much. Classy production of a lovely orchestral score. The finale is particularly beautiful. I'm interested in checking out the film now. Kudos to Howlin' Wolf - Thank you so much! It was top of my Most Wanted list, and the composers' favorite of their work. So happy it is finally available. The film is Bob Clark's best IMO. Tremendous atmosphere, great storytelling and cast. Best, Tim Agreed - I love so many of the great actors who have portrayed Holmes, but in this one shot, Plummer with his energetic and startlingly compassionate performance put his stamp on the character for all time. And Mason, grumpy, fussy, witty - right up there with Andre Morell!

Just received the CD, can't wait to hear it. Saw the film in the theater back in the day and was not impressed, although decades later i can't imagine why. Plummer and Mason seem perfectly cast, the subject matter is my cup of English tea, and I love the Stephen Knight non-fiction book that was the basis for this movie. I must give it another shot.

Got my copy and played it. Fantastic. Moody, edgy, suspenseful, perfect.

I have fond memories of seeing the film during its first run engagement at the grand Ziegfeld Theater in Manhattan. The film and score both really impressed me all those years ago. I was eager to acquire the score back then, but it never materialized. Simply awesome to finally have it in my hands today after all these years! Thanks to all involved in the release.
