Sounds very promising. Did I dream a cue from Charley Varrick. You should post another because nobody comes when its from me. There must be more people that would be interested ! There is definitely some Charley Varrick in this set AND Murderer's Row. What's no to love. Can't wait to get my mitts on this set, as long as they are CDs.

I haven't scrutinized the list yet, but on the (very) positive side, especially for you jazzbos, I noticed "Dialogue for Jazz Quintet and Orchestra." This is a whirlwind Schifrin composition from a 1969 Cannonball Adderley album Experiment in E that focused on more third-stream works--the other composers were Joe Zawinul, William Fischer, and David Axelrod. The piece more avant-garde stretches mixed with New Orleans-styled funeral music. Not to be overlooked because it wasn't, you know, used in a film. It also looks as if Schifrin's first two large-scale works he composed for Dizzy Gillespie are included: Gillespiana and New Continent. I hope Gillespiana is not Schifrin's re-recording but Gillespie's from 1960, as it is superior in every way. For a very young composer this was an audacious and confident work, using Gillespie's quintet with a big band of unusual instrumentation--all brass and percussion, no sax section. This is a major work and put Schifrin on the map. New Continent was a follow-up and for this he expanded his orchestra size. Murderer's Row--finally. A memorable Schifrin spy theme with variations. Now, I'm going to take another look at the list.

After a quick perusal there doesn't seem to be anything I don't have or can't live without.
