As a fan of expanded scores, the Encore Series used to be something of a bummer for me...

And of course it was the exact opposite for me -- the series was a chance to get the OST of something that was hard to come by. I stress "was" here, because I'm in no position to buy anything now, whatever form it is. But I'm still curious what title they choose, and hopefully they will return to reissuing OSTs again if the series continues.

I'd love to see re-releases of The Right Stuff and maybe Jarre's Witness (I seem to recall that was on Varese?).

Yeah but neither of those was previously expanded by Varese as a Deluxe Edition.

Please folks, just actually read the first post in this thread?

According to Varese via facebook:

To clarify, it's a FUN score, it's not from a FUNNY film. At least not one that's intentionally funny.

It'll be interesting if it turns out to be STARSHIP TROOPERS, because that movie is very intentionally funny.

It won’t — Varese already ruled it out on FB.

I would've hoped they would've launched it with something that had been OOP for a decade or two rather then something that recent, but I wholeheartedly approve of the series either way.

Maybe Robocop 3?

Basil's Seagal scores are for funny films, right?

I hope they can bring back Jarre's THE BRIDE

They already did an Encore edition of that one.

No they didn't, it was just a transfert to CD labeled as a Varèse Club but not a reedition of a previously existing CD.

There are only 5 Deluxe Edition Poledouris right?

Starship Troopers
Robocop 3
On Deadly Ground
Under Seige 2
For Love Of The Game

Yes, that's correct, though they've released other general-release Poledouris expansions (Conan the Barbarian, a slight expansion of RoboCop) and other Poledouris Varese CD Club titles (Flesh+Blood, Cherry 2000, Making the Grade, Iron Eagle).

With the recent expansion of For Love of the Game, the only remaining post-1989 Poledouris scores Varese released but have not yet expanded are It's My Party, Kimberly (which I think might have been relatively complete?), and Hot Shots! Part Deux. (It's unknown whether they also control 1989's Wired in perpetuity, since they started regularly getting perpetuity rights at some point in that year. They clearly didn't for Farewell to the King early in the year.)

Worth noting that the extended Under Siege 2 and On Deadly Ground are both available on Spotify, so don't need the 'Encore' treatment...

Looks like the title is ROBOCOP 3.

Haha, digital-only. What a joke...
No, thanks.

Someone on Facebook commented on the teaser "please be CD, not vinyl" and Varese replied "why not both?"

Well this all seems a non-event if this is true. Just re-releasing old Deluxe editions as digital downloads seems very odd though.
